All this praise said though, I told you guys that the Saints weren't the same this year as what we're used to seeing. They did already lose to Cleveland and the Falcons, who today got blown out by dbair's fave coach.

Yeah there's no doubt that last years Saints defense was a major smoke and mirrors job, they are definitely going to struggle to make the playoffs. Tenn is obviously not very good and your Lambs arnt either.

That said, we did pretty much put a beat down on the Saints. There other two losses could have went either way, this one really wasn't in much doubt. Considering the way they have pretty much owned us for a long time now, the way we won tonight is quite surprising to me. I thought we might win, but not like this.

Yeah, I do give us credit for beating them down. But that shouldn't be such a rare thing like it has been, either.

And my Lambs just need a QB.

Maybe they can swindle Jerry for Dustin Vaughan.

Feeling really good to be a Cowboys fan right now. Its been awhile. That said, it was against a Saints team that doesnt look right in any three phases. They are off. Hyperbolt by Irvin was that the Cowboys are unstoppable. Its been three wins against three bad teams. I will enjoy this one tho.

I haven't looked at the schedule, cuz you know, I never look past the current opponent, but I heard the schedule coming up is soft.

Texans next. I dont think Texans are that good either even tho they have the same record as the Cowboys. Hawks after that in the birds nest. Dez vs Sherman should be fun.

I wonder if they'll match that ****** up with Dez single coverage.

They always keep on the right side. Teams are starting to challenge his ass.

I do like how the Cowboys are winning. Running the ball brings me back to the old days. Right now they are the #1 rushing team in the NFL.

Offense looks great top to bottom. Literally the best I've seen it in a loooooong time the last couple weeks.

3 straight home games (Giants, Redskins, Cardinals) after the Seattle game, then vs Jacksonville in London

I don't expect us to win vs Seattle (almost nobody would) and Arizona will be very difficult, but the other 3 are winnable games for sure. 6-3 or maybe even 7-2 going into the Jacksonsville game might be doable.

Decent chance we could be 7-3 going into our bye week.

It took literally reading 2 posts to bring me down right now, and they were at the zone, and they were both by that idiot Fletch.

Seriously, Garrett deserves a lighter shade of red hair for this one, but to run around like he's suddenly a good coach, even one you'd take over Sean Payton, gmafb.

gfy fletch.

While he is worthy of complimenting tonight, one game hardly vindicates Garrett.

The difference between us ("realists") and them ("homers") is that most of us are willing to admit if Garrett, Romo, even Jerry does something well. They can never admit or accept anything negative about the team.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

The offense looks top notch, but I still don't see the defense as a much improved bunch. They've been blessed with having a ginormous TOP advantage that has helped mask their inabilities. They were near the bottom in snap count before today, they'll probably be bottom 3 in snap count for teams with 4 games when this week finishes.

They're actually on pace to play 158 fewer snaps than last year. That's anout 2.5 games worth of snaps and while I don't expect it to stay that way, it does give you an idea of how beneficial the TOP has been to the defense.

By themselves, they're still pretty bad and like last year the only thing that they do right is take the ball away.

They'll probably be bottom 2-3 in yards/play allowed after the Saints finished at 7.4 yards/play. For comparisons sake, last year's New Orleans game was 7.8 yards/play for New Orleans, and Dallas finished the 2013 season at 6.1 yards/play. Prior to today the team was at 6.2 yards/play.

For the 4th week in a row they've given up a long drive in just a few plays. In each game thus far the opponent has scored a TD of 65 yards or more in 5 or fewer plays. 3 of the drives took 3 plays or less. Looks like a NFCE type of problem as all teams have at least 2 of those. There are only 7 teams with more than 1 such drive and about half the league hasn't even given up 1 yet.

They've allowed opponents to convert 21 of 45 (46%) 3rd down attempts, which is worse than last year.

To me, these are concerning. What it tells me is that any time the offense doesn't dominate the clock the defense is going to be exploited much like they were in the Rams game. If the offense ever struggles or comes across an opponent that can slow them down a bit, Dallas' defense won't stop anyone giving up 6.4 yards/play and allowing 46% of 3rd down attempts to be successful.

I don't think they're really any better than last year. We've just seen less of them as a product of the offensive success.

And then, there's this:

mikerodak Mike Rodak
EJ Manuel is the first player to have a QBR under 10.0 in consecutive full games since Brady Quinn in Weeks 16-17 of 2012.

mikerodak Mike Rodak
EJ Manuel now has a 19.8 QBR on the season, 32nd among 33 qualified quarterbacks. Only Chad Henne has been (was?) worse.

I'm still skeptical about our defense, statistically we're not that far off last years, although we did play well enough last night to shut down a Saints offense that can score points quickly.

I'll admit I was surprised we blew them out.

The cool thing is that the OL will most likely only get better as the season goes on ... as they get more used to playing together and as the newest addition(s) gain more experience.

Didn't Fletch say Garrett > Payton? Garrett, who's never had a winning season, is better than a coach that has a ring. Sounds legit.
