wight Howard has told several teammates, as well as members of the Orlando Magic organization, that he will not opt out of his contract at the end of this season, sources close to the situation said.

That would mean Howard would remain under contract in Orlando through the 2012-2013 season.

Howard has not signed a waiver of his early termination option at this point, which means nothing is guaranteed yet. Both Howard and his representation must sign the documentation.

SN: Will Dwight Howard stay?

SportsNation Dwight Howard has stated that he wants to stay with the Magic at least until the end of the season, but should Orlando still trade him? Vote and discuss!

This latest development comes one day after league sources with knowledge of the situation said Howard's public plea late Tuesday to remain in Orlando for the rest of the season only served to anger the Magic and has pushed them closer than ever to trading their superstar center.

Convinced that Howard, on the advice of his agent, is trying to manipulate the situation, the Magic are telling teams they will trade Howard before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline if he does not commit to them beyond this season, league sources said.

"Dwight's dreaming if he thinks Orlando won't trade him without a commitment,'' a source said. "He needs to make some small commitment to them. They're saying it can't be one way.''

Dwight Howard will remain with the Orlando Magic for at least one more season after formally waiving the early termination option in his contract, team officials told Yahoo! Sports.

Howard’s decision is a big victory for the Magic and capped a wild week that saw Howard flip-flop about his future intentions until the final hours before the NBA’s trade deadline. By waiving the option, Howard will remain under contract with the Magic through the 2012-13 season and postpone his free agency for at least one more summer.

I'm sure Wallace is just another piece to the Howard puzzle. It will all fall into place, these things take time.

In other news, Houston added two old guys and Dallas' first round draft pick for guys who never played. I love these senseless NBA deals.

What did the Lakers get for Fisher?

Couldn't be much coming from the Rockets.

A person familiar with the deal says the Houston Rockets have acquired centerMarcus Camby from Portland and Derek Fisher and a 2012 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakersin separate trades. The Rockets are sending point guard Jonny Flynn, center Hasheem Thabeet and a second-round pick to the Trail Blazers and forward Jordan Hill to the Lakers. The person spoke Thursday on the condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced.
