Problem baseball has is that even teams that win (Marlins) can have trouble bringing fans in.
The Marlins have lost something like 17 of their last 18 games and their manager just up and quit out of nowhere.

He is pointing to the fact that even when they were winning the World Series the team didn't draw well. They have been bottom of the league in attendance for the last decade, despite having won the WS in 2003 and being active in the hunt for the wild card in most seasons.
You really are stupid. I said in the last decade and I said active in the Wild Card hunt. You are looking at the final standings when I wasn't talking about the final standings. In 6 of the last 10 seasons they have been in contention for the Wild Card.
2009 - 5 games out (4 game out entering Sept.)
2008 - 5 games out (3 games out entering Aug.)
2006 - 10 games out (2 games out entering Sept.)
2005 - 6 games out (1.5 games out entering Sept.)
2004 - 9 games out (3 games out entering Sept.)
2003 - WC winner
Does that fact that they were borderline in the wild card hunt some years make up for the fact that they have only been more than 4 games over .500 4 times in the last 19 years?
No.. it doesn't. The point Rock made was that they win.. and as i've shown they don't. I couldn't care less what you're input was, as you never have a clue what you're talking about anyway. Moving on..
They don't win.. that's why the fans don't come out.
Once again you show that you know absolutely nothing about what is being discussed here. Rock mentioned the Marlins because they have won two World Series recently and are consistantly in the WC hunt while other teams, such as the Rockies, Mariners, or Diamondbacks, draw better with less recent success.
You starting arguing with Rock, I was just defending his position because you clearly misunderstood him. He never called the Marlins a top team or said they won consistently. He said they win, as in two recent World Series titles.
.
Quit acting like a petulant child. You know what Rock was alluding to but you need to pretend he wasn't to protect your ego.
The year after the Marlins won their last title, they drew almost a million fans BELOW the National League average. So fresh of a World Series, they could not draw.
And Cynthim is right, they have been a team consitantly in the wild card race, but still...no fans.
Dude, in the last 20 years, they've been over .500 only 6 times. Back in the 90's, when the franchise began, they were over the average for a few years in fan attendance. They won the world series once, sure, but the year after that they held a fire sale like idiots and gave away all their good players and lost 100 games. Think that sat well with the fans?
You can say they've been wild card contenders, but they've still finished 1st or 2nd in the division only 3 times in their 19 year history. That's not going to cut it in bringing fans out to see you. They expect a losing product, even when they may be "in the hunt" for a wild card a couple years. But more often then not, they are just bottom dwellers.
Why do you think they are constantly forced to get rid of talent? Oh yeah, no fans no payroll.
It is true that the Marlins couldn't fill the stadium when they did win.
Look at the Rays the last several years. One of the top teams in all of baseball. Nobody cares. Their home crowd is a joke.
Rays finished 30th in attendance last season. Pathetic.
Complete joke. They should move that team the hell out of there. They've hung right there with the two beasts in all of baseball, the Yanks and Sox, over the last 3 years and they still get no support whatsoever.
