Redskins fight off 3 other teams for RT Brown

Redskins agreed to terms with RT Jammal Brown on a five-year contract.
Brown received interest from the Cardinals, Chiefs, and Bears, but Redskins were likely offering more money. Though Brown started slowly last season coming off hip surgery, the 'Skins were happy with his progress by season's end. Coach Mike Shanahan will keep his tackles intact while overhauling the interior of the offensive line. Free agent Ryan Harris will have to find another club.

While everyone has assumed that John Beck is the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins, Mike Shanahan says that's no necessarily so.

“First of all, I’ve never mentioned a starter,” Shanahan told Albert Breer of NFL Network by way of Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post. “I’ve never even insinuated a starter. I said I had a lot of belief in John Beck, I had a lot of belief in Rex Grossman. We’re gonna play the best player at the end of camp, but I do believe in both those guys. I’ve watched them practice. You make decisions based on practice. I’ve watched both these guys for a year, I like what they bring to the table. Now I get a chance to watch them compete on a day-to-day basis.)”

I think that if Grossman starts the season, then by the third game, either Beck or Clemens will be the starter. And if Beck is the starter I think that by the third game than either Grossman or Clemens and so forth.

ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall has a knee injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hall was a surprise new addition to the injury report Friday. He was listed as limited in practice. Coach Mike Shanahan did not mention the injury while meeting with reporters.

Also questionable is tight end Chris Cooley, who had his left knee drained again this week. The knee has bothered him much of the season. He has only seven catches for 66 yards.

Other players listed as questionable are running back Tim Hightower, receiver Anthony Armstrong and cornerback Phillip Buchanon. Hightower has a shoulder injury, Armstrong is nursing an ailing hamstring, and Buchanon has a sore neck.

Shanahan is just trying to play tricks AGAIN. Hall is going to play. Not sure how much of a difference it will make.

Brandon Meriweather, the Washington Redskins safety, was arrested in Arlington on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police say Meriweather was pulled over at about 2:54 a.m. Thursday on I-66 near N. Ohio Street. He refused a breathalyzer test and was given a field sobriety test.

He was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and held overnight in the Arlington County Detention Center. He was released.
