While Deion did help us in 95, it was short-sighted. We lost some starters and we were in salary cap hell for years. the Quincy Carter/Ryan Leaf/Chad Hutchinson handing off the ball to Troy Hambrick were some long, lean years.

We were in salary cap hell for many other reasons besides Deion Sanders. Give me a break. One player didn't create that situation.

The players you mentioned weren't here because of cap hell. They were here because the team was/is being run by an oil salesman and his bastard son.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Deion put us in cap hell, was a bad signing, etc etc.

I think the point was that by Stephen taking a stand both against signing Deion as well as finally releasing Owens is a good indication that he is concerned more about the team, and less about making a splash and an ego-driven force.

lol So we should salute the guy for wanting to prevent the move that got us our 3rd title in the 90's?

lol

WTF.

So by your logic, Jerry is an amazing GM since he insisted on signing Deion. Now I see.

I'm not convinced Stephen doesn't have the same ego.

He's done nothing during his time here to make me think he's anything other than his father's son.

I don't know if he's going to be better or worse, but goddamn am I ready to find out.

New 16-game Thursday night TV package beginning in 2012.

I didn't even know this was on the table. I'm definitely on board and maybe (just maybe) this'll force the NFL Network into becoming watchable.

A lot of Jerry supporters say this line..cough, cough Hostile, dbair...cough... but none of them will admit (or accept) that in the end, Jerry has the final say. He gets swayed from time to time but he will still do what he wants to do most of the time.

No denying if jerry wants something he gets it. No denying. However I dont think he is the menace most portray him as, but he is at times a menace today. Now in the early 2000s late 90s there is no question he was a disaster.

Not at all. It's one move. Where he was put in that position by the guy he ran off.

But clearly bringing in Deion was right. It led to another Championship. And Stephen Jones was against it.

I just find it odd that people would point to that as a positive.

Crazy. Since I don't bother with the Sunday Ticket though, any chance I get to watch more football that I don't have to stream is a score for me. It's just a shame they'll be on that network.

The story goes Stephen had a plan in place to keep the Cowboys under the cap and be able to re-sign the essential players. Jerry wanted to sign Deion regardless. Stephen fought against it and even physically pinned Jerry up against a wall and asked Jerry if he realized what he was doing to the franchise. Jerry (and his ego) won out. We signed Deion, lost some valuable free agents, and went into Salary Cap hell for several years.

Signing Deion wasn't the only reason why we went into cap hell.

I'm glad this is coming to an end, but 48% of all revenue is still bullshit.

All these sports are getting ridiculous with what these players are demanding.

And it's only going to get worse as the years go on. Again, I'm glad it's coming to an end, but it's still hideous.

Ditto. This should also allow for more national coverage of Cowboys games.

One thing good is this might be a 10 year agreement. So we won't have to deal with this again for awhile.

I don't care about national games for the Cowboys. I have the ticket. Means nothing to me.

I want my NFL Sundays to be chock full of games....and including the Cowboys.

And what you want means nothing to me. Thursday games means I get to watch more NFL football. I love it.

Thursday games are okay by me. Watch two games on Sunday, go out and get drunk. Done. Thursday go watch one game, get drunk.
