NFL does anything to improve the entertainment they provide by old people who fear change.

You shouldn't generalize about any group.
That would be like if I said anyone who propped a weak argument with insults is a dick.

How does adding more playoff teams water the talent down? It's not like they're expanding the roster size or adding more teams. That makes no sense.

It doesn't water down the talent. It puts less quality teams in the playoffs, meaning less quality football on the field.

The talent is watered down because there are too many teams. They should knock it back to 30 teams, maybe even back to 28.

He was replying to me. I thought Jerry meant add 4 more teams to the league.

For it if the best 8 teams from each conference make it. Fuck winning a division at 8-8 and getting in over a 9-7 team.

I'm sure it's happened since then, but I think the worst example I've seen is the 1985 Browns winning the AFC Central with an 8-8 record and in the playoffs over the 11-5 Broncos.

I can see both sides... On one hand, it's nice to not have teams under .500 make the playoffs often. If you don't win as much or more than you lose, then you shouldn't be in consideration for the championship. The Eastern Conference in the NBA this year is going to have multiple sub-.500 teams make the playoffs this year. Don't want the NFL being like that.

At the same time, the NFL has more franchises than the other three major sports, and only baseball allows fewer teams into the playoffs, with 10 total. 38% of NFL teams will make the playoffs... 35% in baseball, and more than 50% in NBA and NHL. I think you could stand to add one team in each league, which has been discussed. The AFC's last playoff team was 9-7, and everyone that was left out was 8-8 or worse, but Arizona got left out in the NFC with 10 wins. You win 10 games, you should be in.
