It's really sad to see how much of a business the NFL has become. Spoiled millionaires playing for spoiled billionaires.

It's completely ridiculous. It's like corporate America at games anymore.

Sorry. I'm not with the players. I'm not really with the owners either. I'm with the true diehard fans who have made this league what it is. The guy working two jobs so he can keep his season tickets.

I love it when the NFLPA and/or Ownership chime in talking about how they're sensitive to the fans. That they realize they've been stretched to the breaking point.

Yet here they are bickering over who gets the bigger share over the money they muscle out of us every year.

F them both.

I too can't get with either side. This whole charade has been a giant middle finger at the fanbase of the NFL, especially the fan you mention.

I can't get over the nerve of both sides.

I mean, Jesus. Think about it. Think about this for a minute, the owners are the factory, the players are the product made and sold, we buy the product.

The factory and the product pusher better hope us buyers don't find a different product to buy while their bickering about who gets our money.

I understand the NFL isn't going to lose much over this as far as fanbase goes, but the nerve is outta this world.

This just give me football at all costs attitude is what has created these salaries. It's why the common fan is being priced out of seeing these games live, why the Sunday ticket costs a mint, why NFL merchandise is so expensive.

If the players get their way, the owners will see to it to get some of that money back from the only source they have. The fans.

I say enough is enough. These players are way out of line and if it takes missing a football season to bring back some sanity I'm all for it.

Of course this is probably an unrealistic view. The owners aren't concerned with anything other than their own wallet. But at least they are less likely to raise prices if they win this negotiation.

That is a stupid comment. Colleges make tons of money without having to pay their players, the money will be there no matter how big a share the players get. Stick to football, economics is way over your head.

If I have to start paying to watch the NFL I'll just give up on it. Soccer is a better spectator sport and Portland has a team in the MLS now so I am ready to make the switch. I can survive on NCAA and MLS if need be.

This will make the NFL come to their senses for SURE!!

You should totally fax that to the league office.

Yes. You charge what people will pay, not what you think is fair. These owners didn't become millionaires by leaving prices low when consumers will pay more.

Well you must have missed the part where I said it was an unrealistic view. That the owners only care about their own wallet.

You had to miss that. Because you're obviously smart and would have understood it.

If the owners want to make X and have to settle for Y, you can bet your soccer loving ass they are going to increase the revenue so that Y becomes X. And the only way to do that is to increase prices.

That part is irrelevant. Your claim was that player salaries drive up the prices, but that is unfounded. Their salaries increase because the players are gauranteed a percent of the profit and profits have been going up. Consumerism drives the market just like every consumer industry in America.

I claimed greed all around drives up prices. Including player salary.

Salaries scale based on profit, not the other way around. Entertainment is a luxury and the NFL isn't the only business raping the country for huge salaries. Just look at Charlie Sheen and his $1.5M per episode TV show or all of the crappy singers making it big off of stupid teenage girls.

Yes, you're right. If the owners have to give a bigger slice of the pie to the players that won't have any effect on what fans pay.

What was I thinking?
