We had a young QB prospect.

Sorry, not buying Dustin Vaughn.

I love our OL. I love how we've finally got a playcaller who doesn't abandon the run game. I love the fight of our no name defense. And I love how Garrett has essentially been neutered.

But I see maybe one more year with Romo and then we'll almost be starting over again.

That said, if Romo and Murray stay healthy, we could make some noise this year.

Yep. This years looks good, barring a Romo injury. Future years, not so much.

This is truly the darkest timeline. Jerry gets positive reinforcement on his micromanaging and puppet hiring.

Oh well.

This can't be any worse really. The fucking ginger has even more than 9 lives. He won't just go away.

To top it all off, Jerry is gonna start thinking he actually understands the game of football.

Disgusting that Dez hugged Ginger at the end of the lockerroom speech. Can't have your star talent embracing a shitty coach like that.

If Bryce Perry slips to the 2nd round, and he might because he needs serious work on reading defenses and going through his progressions, it might be time to make the investment. Garrett's brother is the QB Coach at Oregon State so Sean Mannion could be in that mix too. I want no part of Jameis Winston but Jerry could force the issue there. Dakota Prescott is getting a lot of love now too.

I didn't mention Mariotta, Connor Cook, and Brett Hundley because I'm thinking they will all be gone by the time we pick.

Vaughan needs none of that work.

Jerry will be thinking they are one player away again and he will make some stupid moves. Special teams draft coming up.

Let's hope he doesn't return to his kickers-are-plug-and-play attitude. I like having a reliable long distance game-tier/winner.

Unlikely names like Bailey and Williams coming through in crunch time.

You will.

Dooms my lack of faith has less to do with Vaughn's ability and more to do with our complete inability to develop QBs.

I'm not sure what Wade Wilson even does.

Romo credits his development on David Lee, Sporano, and Testeverde.

Goes back to poor coaching and a lack of top of the line pedigree, basically.

....if the team now only sends the WRs deep to clear out space for RBs and YAC. Otherwise, if the young WRs it has can run quicker crosses and slants, the outlook for the team and the preservation of any QB it has will be optimistic.

If Jason would just not show up for the games, I would be very happy about the future of the team.

I'm not so pessimistic about the next QB. There is a reasonable chance that Romo's successor will inherit a high quality OL, a better than average running game, and quality receivers.

And who knows, maybe a solid veteran free agent QB becomes available ....

I totally understand that. But what you have in Vaughan is a guy who cut his teeth in Air Coryell and Air Raid, who doesn't need nearly the development Romo needed.

^^^^ This.

We shouldn't ever need the QB to be the bus engine again, a bus driver is much better.

Dez? Yes.
Beasley? Yes.
Harris? Yes.
T-Willy? Crayton is his ceiling. Not really quality unless he is relied upon to be his more natural position of 4th WR.
Streets? Ogletree without the speed. Not quality.

I think the team desperately needs speed at the WR position. If the next QB gets an older Dez, Beasley and Harris, there may be a need to rebuild parts of the WR corps.
