I'm really gonna miss Sensabaugh giving up a touchdown and then repeatedly slamming his hand into to the turf in disgust.

I'm just really shocked and hurt right now. All signs pointed to an extension for him.

Safety in 1 is my guess. No bluffing from Stephen.

I just hope this doesn't lock them into a position where they reach or panic and move up for someone

Ayuh. Time for some new mocks with a safety at 18.

Signs of hope (although very little)... This is a move good teams do.

Can't imagine a scenario where we don't draft a safety in the first two rounds now.

some Longhorn slash Cowboy fans may be very happy come draft day.

I keep hearing Texas used Vacarro in the slot which speaks higher of his coverage skills than I would have thought about him. I liked him as a run supporter, will have to go back and watch more games.

I'll still hold out hope that we go O Line, but Safety probably just leapfrogged DL and OL as our biggest need.

Let's hope he goes in the top 15. Safety was a big need whether Sensy got cut or not, jkust like RT is a big need whether Free gets cut or not, and just like interior OL is a big need. I'd rather go with what we have at safety in Church and Johnson and draft a player in either the 2nd or 3rd, than to bypass the OL with a player like Warmack or Cooper, for someone like Vaccaro.

The CZ sweetheart Matt Johnson must have really impressed the staff for them to make this cut or they have faith in their scouts to find a can't miss safety in the draft. I like the cut ,but this seems like piss-poor planning IMO.

Heard on NFL Network this morning from Calvin Watkins that we will go after a Charles Woodson or Dashon Goldson type of free agent or draft Vaccaro or Elam.

Might Cowboys target safety Kenny Vaccaro in draft?
March, 4, 2013
By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

The Cowboys have a void at the safety position after sending Gerald Sensabaugh home.

Currently, Barry Church is the lone returning safety, but he's coming off a torn Achilles. Church said he should be ready for the start of training camp.

Matt Johnson missed his rookie year at safety with hamstring injuries. Danny McCray most likely will return because he's a restricted free agent.

Which leaves us with the draft.

Safety Kenny Vaccaro, Mel Kiper's No. 1 ranked safety, will be on display at the University of Texas Pro Day on March 26. The issue with Vacarro seems to be speed. He ran a 4.63 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine, which he attributed to physical problems. Earl Thomas of Texas also ran a slow 40 at the combine, but improved on it at his Pro Day a few years ago.

If Vaccaro doesn't improve on his 40 time, he could fall to No. 18 -- where the Cowboys currently reside.

"I think I can bring a lot to a team being versatile and being able to play a number of positions," Vaccaro said at the combine. "I played both safeties, strong and free. I played nickel. I played dime. In some instances I played corner. We had two great corners. But most of the time I played corner in one on ones in practice."

Coach Jason Garrett has preached competition at all positions, and there will be plenty at the safety spot in 2013.
