Sacamano will no doubt be pleased with remarks below.

BRANDON WILLIAMS

Position: Outside linebacker
Height: 6-3. Weight: 246
College: Texas Tech
How acquired: Fourth round, 2009 draft, No. 120 overall

[+] EnlargeMatthew Emmons/US Presswire
Brandon Williams, who missed all of his rookie season after tearing his ACL in a preseason game, was inactive for 10 of the first 12 games during 2010 and finished the season with only four tackles. What he did in 2010: Williams created a lot of buzz during the early portion of training camp, but he fizzled and failed to beat out Victor Butler for the third outside linebacker job. Williams, who missed all of his rookie season after tearing his ACL in a preseason game, played too hesitantly. He was inactive for 10 of the first 12 games. He finished the season with only four tackles. Three of those came in the win over the Washington Redskins, when he snuffed out a reverse to tackle Santana Moss for a loss.

What to look for in 2011: Williams will be fighting for a roster spot. The Cowboys like his potential as a pass-rusher, but it’s time for him to prove himself. He would help his cause significantly by showing during the preseason that he can be counted on as a core special teams player.

Quotable: “He has DeMarcus Ware-like burst off the ball.” –- Former coach Wade Phillips during training camp

Bryan Broaddus’ Scout’s Eye: “Brandon Williams was a guy that I really, really thought was going to be better than Victor Butler. Butler has more pass-rush skill. During the first week of training camp, I thought BW was going to be outstanding, but Victor Butler actually has better pass-rush skills than Brandon Williams. That’s really what separates the two guys. Butler is just a better player. There were times when you watched Williams rush during training camp that you thought he was going to be the guy, but as training camp wore on, he got progressively worse. Williams is going to have to develop some pass-rush moves. When you watch Victor Butler, he makes things happen. Brandon Williams doesn’t.”

I was always a Butler guy.

Though if he can't be anything more than a spot player, time to move on from him too.

I'm still rooting for B Williams. He was one of just a few decent picks from the horrid 2009 draft. I would trade Butler (if we keep Spencer), he has value.

I think BW is gonna have a hard time making the team next yr.

Honestly I wont be surprised if an early pick is used on an OLB.

Most of us have made the assumption Rob Ryan is going to improve the defense. What's to stop him from coaching up the heck out of Brandon Williams and him improving as well? Kid is only 22.

Why is that more possible than the same happening with Victor Butler? A guy who has out produced Williams since he's been here.

I wouldn't trade Butler.

His value isn't to the level where we'd get anything more than a 5th.

I wouldn't trade a serviceable pass rusher for just a 5th.

I like Victor Butler. I think that he is too good to be Spencer's back up and suggested he has value in a trade. Unless we have decided to move Spencer or let him walk in a year. In that case, I want Butler starting with Brandon Williams backing up Butler and DWare.

I'd take Aldon Smith at #9 and pair him with Ware and have Butler continuing to come off the bench. Fuck Spencer.

I keep meaning to ask you this. Did you really say these 2 things?

Alan Ball will be a borderline Pro Bowler
&
Dez Bryant will be a 3rd receiver at best

Please tell me you didn't say that.

I don't remember the Ball part, and I'm sure I didn't say that. But I did say that about Dez because I was homering out over Taylor Mays. Big mistake, because now I know that USC is a crappy university.

LOL..Mays will be fine. I'd take him over Jag'o'lantern Gerald Sensabaugh right now. He needs coaching but he's going to be a solid NFL Strong Safety.
