prescient my ass. Tuna was trying to get/keep a job/stay in the spotlight. same thing morons like Tiki Barber do after they leave, put out some "story" to get themselves exposure by playing on the most volatile storylines of their former teams.
He was still under contract with ESPN at the SAME TIME he was coaching the Cowboys....

right, they were more discriminating back in the day. only the best had endorsement deals, and that should be the standard today. I don't wanna see fucking RG3's broke ass face at Subway.

RGIII was a very well known QB coming out of college. He certainly wasn't the first guy to sign a lucrative endorsement deal before taking his first NFL snap.

But that wasn't the point of my first post. The point was, there might have been a small handful of endorsement deals back then, spread all around the league. Now, there are hundreds upon hundreds of them. From shoe deals, to guys hawking local pizza joints. And all parts between. I'd question a guys sanity if he DIDN'T have a deal in place. They're going to be out there. Take them and earn as much money as you can, while you can.

what are you implying? that Tuna selfishly tried to rein in Tony because he was stealing the spotlight? I'm just trying to gauge how retarded and conspiratorial you really are.

Whether we agree with it or not, this is true.

yes, I know that. I just think it's a regrettable aspect of modern life that players are rewarded before they earn it.

I notice that's not cited, either... That would be very strange to have a contract with a current coach... But I don't see what difference it would make regardless.

The claim was, he was fired. There's nothing to support that at all yet but we do have some evidence at least, to support my assertion.

learn to read

tuna knew a good way to get/keep attention on HIM was to play on tony's fame. his QB commandments were nothing but a wasted white girl at the bar declaring that she's sooooooo drunk and annoyingly punching people in the ar and pinching people's nipples.

And I agree with you on that. I was only questioning your comparison of Staubach and Romo in the endorsement arena.

You really think if somebody would have offered Staubach a kajillion bucks to endorse camouflage and bulletproof underwear while serving in Viet Nam waiting to take his first NFL snap, he wouldn't have taken it?

thats the stupidest shit and you are smart enough to know it.

they earned it by being one of a handful of people in the world who can do what they do. piss off with your arbitrary "earning" line. they earned it when a company decided to give it to them.

Probably, but it never would have been offered to him. this despite the fact that he was a Heisman winner and just as famous as RG3. standards were higher back then.

No? I mentioned the more channels and increased visibility already as the reason. That's the reason. We have more sports coverage now and people are consuming it 24/7. I like just told you that.

Our standards in America have never been Higher
