I think Obama missed a real opportunity. If he would have called it terrorism and vowed to fight it, the country would have rallied and he would be up 10 points in the polls. Instead he worried that it made his imaginary story look bad (al Qaeda is dead because of Obama) and he felt he was weak on national security so he didn't want to open that avenue of attack. The problem is much of the left is flat out not patriotic, Obama included (his wife said it all, "For the first time i am proud to be an America"), so they didn't understand. When somebody attacks us we rally around the president, he wouldn't rally for America so he didn't think anyone else would. He blames America for the actions of others and assumed the nation would as well. Really, that terrorist attack should have been a free victory.
