After watching the first half on tv, the defense didn't appear as poor as i thought last night. That blitz from mcray is something we have been doing in camp it seems every day...good to see it worked.

Sensebeaugh had a forced fumble, near int and he knocked out Floyd.....kind of how he played down the stretch..I am not worried about Elam at all.....

Felt like that was a dirty hit on Bennett. He took a helmet below the knees....second week in a row that a tight end has been hit low in the open field. I think there shouldbe a fine for that.

Oh and for the second straight week it looked like lissemore and geathers were active up front.

I think people need to chill. I think the first two series by the defense was pretty good. But let's be real. We all know that the offense will have to carry the defense for much opf this year until the defense gets it's legs under it. Be grateful that we have such an offense. I was totally impressed with the Oline. Even Gurode looked good. Nagy... I was skeptical, I haven't jumped on the bandwagon with this guy, but I'm running alongside of it. Smith... no need to say anything.

Also, like I said, it's doubtful that we will be facing a team as offensively potent as the Chargers, aside from the Patriots.

I like McCray. Not only in blitzing, but I think he's decent in coverage. He had perfect coverage on Floyd, not much more he could have done.

For the longest time, the posters on ESPN used to rip on James big time. Never fully understood it. To me, James wasn't great nor good, but solid. But after last night, he was exposed. He was just out of place on nearly every play. And it seemed like he was always in the defensive secondary backpeddling on freakin run plays! WTF! COME ON.

Olshansky must know he's gone and is simply going through the motions. They might as well just cut him now, because he's taking reps away from players like Geathers and Lissemore.

Next week, we'll know more. I'll be at the game.

No one will say because most fans of this tea are Johnny come lately idiots,a but Stephen and Jerry telling jax we don't want your trade on draft was a great move. Thankfully they took the plAyer they wanted instead of selling us how great a trade is for the future.....they will never get credit for it,but that's ok.

I said the same thing. I am glad we stood pat, because I am certain that Smith would not have been there when we next pick. I truly believe that the Redskins---who wanted to trade down in the first place, would have snagged him, just for no other reason but to stick it to the Cowboys, and if he did make it past the Redskins, he would not have made it past either the Vikings or Lions.

Personally, I don't think Jerry has much to do with it anymore. Yes I know call me a moron or whatever, but I don't think he is in that role anymore. I think Garrett even said as much in his wayt the first week of camp when he explained the front office when pressed on free agents.......he said the scouts and the coaches evaluated players and then would bring Jerry and Stephen in on the financial part of it......

That was a huge statement i think.....it went right over every ones head though......some people will never buy that Jerry is not actually selecting players, but personally I believe that and this year more than ever. I think stephen and Jason are on the same page and with Judd Garrett on the scouting staff it's really the scouts and coaches running personnel.

You know how many of us have been screaming to bring in Waters or even Davis for Guard? If Jerry was running it, I think either of those two would have been here by now. We know Jerry would not go into the season with potentially TWO rookies starting on the Oline. He's a gambler, but not like that. This is Garrett's doing. He said there would be competition for positions, and we are seeing it.

Three concerns from last night.

Bailey still can't kick the ball into the end zone with the 5 extra yards? That scares me.

Lonyae Miller is nothing special.

Sensabaugh reacts poorly to too many deep balls, he guesses wrong a lot. Don't tell me about the almost interception either. That was about as poor a throw as I've seen a NFL QB attempt.

Three things I liked.

Tanner is trying to win a job. He at least makes the Practice Squad.

Tyron freakin Smith.

Always like Romo improvising and finding his BFF Witten for a score.

One prediction
AOA makes the team. He is raw but there's something about him.

Where to begin...

It was VERY obvious that we were attempting to work on pinning teams behind the 20. Everyone knows that every kicker can now kick the ball behind the goal post now. It was said last night during the game that more and more teams will be working on this throughout the season to gain an edge by pinning folks below the 20 since the 20 seems to be the new given.

Miller can block and catch well, just not run. Sounds like you offer him the FB role and he would excel at it and I doubt he would say no. I hate Gronk so that is a win/win for me if that should happen.

I'm seriously doubting that Sencys plays nearly as bad as folks are thinking. He's trusting those corners so he can make a gamble at times and it bit him in the ass last night with our 3rd and 4th CB out there. During an actual game when we have our 1st and 2nd back, I don't think this will be quite the issue it was last night. Ball was a free completion for 8 yards last night, time and time again. Can't blame that all on Sencys play.

Tanner was a beast, even though that TD was called back. That running without his helmet thing was impressive and for me locked him as a RB on this team. I made up my mind last night when I also saw him spear a guy on ST on a kick off return. Choice who?

You could tell after KO didn't help Romo out last night that after the INT he said, yup the INT was on me. But I ain't gonna throw your way again... and he didn't. He went with who he trusts, J Wit. That TD throw was insane. On the move and thrown before JWit was even there. Gave me fucking chills man!!!!

What reason is there for AOA to make this team? He's shown absolutely nothing as safety, nor are his run backs when he gets the chance even close to mediocre. If he makes the team I will be shocked.

I'd love to have Taylor Mays for a try out, but not sure he is a RKG for Garrett and I'm very much on board that band wagon atm.

You are probably right about Bailey's kicks. I just remember the other kicker putting it in the back of the endzone each time and was wondering why Bailey was kicking it to the 5. After reading your post I remember Joe D saying that they wanted to see the kick coverage.

Go back and watch the game and watch how Sensabaugh reacts to deep passes or post patterns over the middle. He takes a lot of false steps. Collinsworth mentioned something about him that made me think might be the actual issue. He said the Cowboys feel, at times, that Sensabaugh could be a top safety in this league but that they worry about how much he loses focus. That might explain why he completely disappears from time to time. Personally, I've watched seemingly slow players (big WR's, TE's) get way too much separation from him. Now that he is playing Free Safety, I am really worried he will get exposed.

AOA had a nice return in the one kick he got to run out. He had a nice spin move and he's fearless. Last year he just ran in a straight line and would run into his teammates. I also like the way he throws himself into players when he tackles. I tend to like the athletic players (scheme and technique are coachable, speed and athleticism are gifts) so I might have AOA-shaded glasses on when I watch him play. I just don't think you draft a small school player (D2) in the 4th round and then give up on him so quickly.

You mentioned the Romo INT which I didn't have a big problem with. Weddle made a great play on the ball and like you mentioned, KO just kind of waited rather than come back to the ball.

My thoughts:

We NEED a third WR. Olgetree doesn't want it bad enough. Matter of fact he hasn't shown me much to even make the roster.

We NEED a tackle who can play both LT/RT to backup our starters. Shawn Andrews is still out there. Get him on vet min.

Our problem at safety is this.. we have two guys who should only be starting if paired with a great safety. Not starting when paired together. It just amplifies our problems. Sensebaugh would still be the one to go for me.. he reacts entirely too slow. He's AT LEAST a step behind every play.

Miller is not good enough to make the roster. And Tanner has potential but right now needs to be on the PS. Maybe brought up mid-season if we work a trade. Choice is still the better player.

Two players I was extremely impressed with: Tryon Smith. He's the real deal for us. There is no doubt about it. And Felix Jones.. He's so much stronger and patient this year.

I like AOA and Church as our backup safeties. Church is good enough to be that 3rd safety in subs. I like Elam. I just wish we had a star safety next to him.

Ball struggles in coverage but at least he's not afraid to tackle.

I wanna see more of M. Butler.. He's not bad.

I also wanna see more of Costa before I make up my mind on him.. I like all the feel good stories I've read and his play isn't bad. I need to see more of him first tho.

Brandon Williams seems to have peeked.. I don't think we'll get anything more outta him. He should at least be showing flashes by now.

Parnell might eventually develop into something. PS him.

Igor is a bum. No way he makes roster.

Overall, I don't like our depth in most areas. Its a major concern, especially considering playoffs is when depth plays a major role.

I don't know what the staff has against Manny Johnson, but he had a great catch last night, and it seems for the past 2 years that every, other week in offseason practices, he's making a great grab. Idk.

Mario Butler is not bad? Are you freaking kidding me?? Dude looked lost out there, just running around. Don't even get me started on Ball. Dude is lost against the running game.

Butler made a couple of nice plays. Try to remember he's an undrafted rookie in his 2nd preseason game.

I was thoroughly impressed with our young guys on the Oline. I can't believe Houck is coaching these guys. I don't want to put the cart before the horse (or whatever the expression is) but what many thought might have been a 2-4 year process (revamping the Oline) might actually be almost complete already.
This right here has been the greatest revelation this training camp/pre-season. Gives some hope for this team.

Choice can't play st, block, or catch. He wouldnt get any touches. How long can you live off that steelers game?

I disagree. Choice can block and catch the football. He also showed a lot more promise than just one game's worth. There's a reason his running style was being compared to Emmitt's.. his vision is very good.

Its a shame some fans discard that because of one bad play that shoulda never been called or because he asked Vick for an autograph.

He can catch, but he isn't a receiver like Murray is and Felix is becoming. He's not natural enough to pull it in while on the run and keeping his head upfield. He has to haul it in like our aunts at the cookout who want someone to throw it to them.

As for his extra calicular activities he could get a pass if he was good enough. Martys been quiet. The reality is that as a #3 rb he gives you nothing extra. And he won't be seeing carries behind all the weapons so he would go to waste.

If Ari still had breaston that'd be a nice swap.

Is it me or are people assigning hate to players lately? As if that's the reason I thought igor would be cut for months. It couldn't possibly just his sabatoge level play

As of right now we don't know what we have in Murray so Choice is still our #2 back. That doesn't mean Murray won't take that spot (as I think and hope he will) it just means Choice still has value in this offense.

Maybe its just me... but I honestly do not think Choice is a bad football player. I don't remember him ever looking terrible like Igor has so I don't see the comparison. Even if we're not looking at past seasons and just what has happened so far, Igor still sucks.. whereas Choice has yet to show anything. Out of sight, out of mind for some of you maybe...

Murray was drafted for a reason, they have a role for him. Rookie RB's are always ready to go so he will play.

Choice is only good for carries and he just wont see any carries being the 3rd RB and 7th or 8th option. Garrett took Murray because he wanted to use him, not Choice.

I agree hes not trash but he just doesnt do anything for them any more.
