It took 2k years to get it the way it was meant to be? And you and i are just lucky enough to live in the era when they finally got it right? And only a fraction of Christians on earth today practice it correctly?

Come on man. Either that's bullshit or your god is a TERRIBLE communicator. Get one that doesn't take six thousand years to get his point across. Maybe also find one that can give some guidance to his servants who want to stop mothers like the op from saving their own lives based on some bronze age BS.

People are fallible and choose to do things they want to fit their own agendas. It is pretty clear what Jesus says. I can't help what some did in the name of Christ. I can just tell you how I see the role of Christianity, what it means to me and how I practice my religion.
