Bill Bates was a fan favorite, and reasonably so, but I think ROH is probably reserved for players who’s impact was widely recognized and obvious outside of the organization. Ask any casual observer who Smith, Staubach or Aikman are and you’ll get a positive answer. Ask someone, even a good number of genuine football fans who Bill Bates was and you’re likely to get a blank stare and a shrug.
