This is directed towards Mid and UVA, what does Garrett have to do for you to give him some credit to how this team is playing? He has got this team ready to play and we are looking good. The players seem to love him too.

I think jerry gets more credit than Jason. He at least brought in marinellis and linehan. This team is basically the same as last year. We never committed to the run like linehan has and Kiffin was a disaster on defense

Our defense is playing better based on them not being on the field that much do to our powerful running attack

I stand by my thoughts that Jason has very little input on the drafts

I could care less that the players love him. Players loved Campo as well, remember?

As far as what it would take for me to give Garrett credit, well that's just not gonna happen anytime soon? At least not credit for the success of this team. Listen, we've seen for years of Garrett as head coach. And most of it has been four years of gaffes, Game mismanagement, clock mismanagement, A complete lack of offensive creativity, and terrible situational awareness.

The only difference between last year and this year is Jerry hired a new offense Coordinator and a new defensive coordinator.

So now we finally have an o-coordinator who recognizes The importance of running the football and dominating time of possession.

Truth be told I'm not even sure what Garrett does anymore except for stand on the sideline and clap.

The only thing I'll give Garrett credit for is he's a good steadying influence. Through most situations he seems to keep the players calm.

Outside of that Garrett is a severely inadequate head coach and he's proven that over the years.

Who stopped Jerry from getting Manziel? Pretty sure it was Garrett that insisted on re-building the O-Line.

All reports are that it was Stephen Jones and scouts.

I don't think Garrett has very much input on draft day. If you watch the war cam you'd probably agree.

No. They were going to draft Shazier. Don't give me this shit about Garrett having a "plan" to rebuild the OL

I thought this was interesting from Sturms blog

-----

To continue on yesterday’s theme, it should be stated how uncommon it really is for a team or an offense to change its identity with merely an offseason where the only personnel change was the drafting of a right guard. Zack Martin’s upgrade over Bernadeau is clear, but we won’t suggest that Martin was the tipping point at all.

We continue to feel, as we wrote back in August, that the identity actually changed during last season’s bye week (after the debacle in New Orleans). In that piece we previously linked, you can see all of the many theories, including the most obvious one – that they simply have to do a better job protecting their defense with common sense play-calling from the offense – but they changed their ways before Week 11 against the Giants. Since then, the Cowboys have played 12 games which is 75% of a full season and the confirmation that the Cowboys transitioned from the worst rushing team in the NFL to the best – almost overnight – is flat out stunning.

Over those 12 games, they have run for 1,696 yards (1st in the NFL) at 5.03 yards per carry (1st) and 141.3 yards per game (2nd) for 91 1st Downs (1st) and 49 10-yard runs (3rd).

What makes those numbers absurd is the fact that the 26 games previous to that from Week 1 of 2012 through Week 10 2013, Dallas ran for 2,035 yards (31st), at 3.67 yards per carry (29th), 78.3 yards per game (31st), for 115 1st Downs (29th), and 45 10-yard runs (31st). That is right, if it wasn’t for Jacksonville being worse, the Cowboys flipped a switch and went from worst to nearly first in pretty much every category.

And keep in mind that the personnel is largely the same (but we must account for the time invested for maturity and continuity), when we ponder philosophical changes having the most likely affect on the proceedings. If you think about it from the standpoint of last year’s bye week, Scott Linehan is no longer the Albert Einstein of this operation, but rather the specialist who helped further implement the existing idea. If the final 6 weeks of last season are not that dissimilar in the ground game to the first 6 games of this season, then we are wondering if it was more a conscious (and obvious) decision rather than an accident.

How about win (and/or continue to win)? Why is everyone so caught up in trying to give Garrett and/or Jones "credit"? We're 5 and 1 and haven't won a fucking thing yet. Make the playoffs, make some noise and the rest will come. But this thought process of divvying out credit when we haven't made the playoffs for 4 straight years is fucking maddening.

I suppose "credit" is due, for whoever realized we have a 33 year old QB with questionable back issues therefore we ought to put this 3 1st round pick line to work blocking people and beating them up, and give the coconut to a running back, alot.

The "change in philosophy" didn't start last year after the Nawlins game, it started when Tony went under the knife for lower back disk surgery.

Yep. Why the rush to judgment? It's like they think those who developed an opinion on Garrett over 3+ seasons of mediocrity are magically going to change that opinion after really 5 games. You sure weren't hearing that after San Francisco.

The less Garrett does, the better this team gets.

His responsibilities are as follows:

1. Clappy hand guy.
2. Dress code enforcement man.
3. Cliche speech man.

The less he touches, the less things go wrong.

You guys aren't seeing what he's built.

It was his idea to trade out of the 2014 1st round pick. He wasn't sitting in the war room zoned out. He was just super-focused on Travis Frederick being there at 31.

It was his idea to have playcalling taken from him, twice.

He's brilliant!

I've caught some of his post-game speeches. he might be the most boring, uninspirational man walking the earth.

This D reminds me of the Pistons team that took down the Shaq&Kobe Lakers, no superstars, but a bunch of athletic guys giving it their all.

I like it.

He's just terrible.

I especially like how he throws in all the "hell"s and "damn"s to try to give himself more street cred. LOL

You know what you don’t hear this year? Cowboys have no leadership in the locker room. Amazing what winning can do...or silence. I read a few quotes from Jerry Jones yesterday and i didnt have the urge to vomit.

When a team continues to fold in big games, the supposed leadership, players and coaches, are going to be questioned.

Look at the Patriots and Tom Brady just two weeks ago. Suddenly, Bellichek can't coach and Brady sucks?
