It happened to a small extent yesterday when we went down 10-0 early.

Ginger would have gone straight into passing mode, but Linehan came out running it and Murray got us back into the game immediately.

oh here it is...somebody did see the same thing I saw...totally skipped over this post...we did get stymied in the run game a bit yesterday...to the point where even I was ready to give up on it

But in that we see the actual formula - the opponent HELPS US beat them up when they concentrate and key on, the run. They can't possibly keep it up long enough to help themselves much.

Charean Williams of the FWST is saying Free could miss up to 4 weeks. Not sure how true that is as no one else is reporting that. Only that he could miss some times but may not miss any.

well, at the very least this team has a formula for success....we are vulnerable to certain teams, I am sure...but everyone is...

if nothing else, I like the style of football this team plays...run the ball and control the game...lets see how long this defense can sustain this level of play for

I dunno, I thought the Giants had looked great the last three weeks until last night. After that horrible start, it's like the the switch flipped and everyone on offense understood the offense and executed it. Maybe last night was the real Giants, or maybe they just had a bad week as happens in the NFL. No doubt Cruz was a huge loss for them, though.

It's not like they were beating great teams though. Philly I don't think is great as yet, but it was a big step up for the G men in competition.

The patella is bad news. Might be career ending, sadly.

the raw numbers wont support my argument...and im probably alone on this...but there was a good poriton of yesterdays game, where the run game was stymied..it was to the point where the pass game was far more effective...I dont recall if this was the 3Q or the 4Q or a bit of both..I was legitimately sitting there hoping that we would abandon the run game and continue passing down after down...

give Linehan credit, he stuck w the run game, and it worked...hawks wore down late in the 4th and murray took over...
No, I agree there was a portion of the game yesterday where the running game wasn't getting much going. I think we went from up 17-10 at half to down 20-17 during that time frame. But we had success before that in the run, basically from the second drive through the end of the first half, so it wasn't as if we were thinking we couldn't run it.

Seattle made adjustments at half to try to stop us, and they were successful for a while. Credit the offense, we adjusted back during the 4th qtr.

Still, I'd be interested to see a game where we literally can't run the ball for 2-3 quarters in a row... Would we start throwing the ball more in that game, I would think so. Then what happens after that? The next week, or the next few weeks, do we go back to what should be our identity?

If Garrett were calling the plays, I firmly believe that even if the run were working for long stretches, if we were forced to throw it for a game, it would revert back to that every game. I hope Linehan is different... just interested to see it.

When Linehan was hired, most of you praising him now were bashing the decision and said he was a more pass happy version go Garrett

His resume had a few stints that were very similar to Jason's poor traits. He operates the same system as Jason which mandates certain adjustments to the defense based on alignments and positions. The passing game for Dallas right now puts the team at risk; puts the QB at risk. However, running the ball is an act of the will. It is a decision not to throw, no matter what the defense has put back in coverage or at the line. Don Coryells original version of this offense did not function without Chuck Muncie being a threat every game. (He also had very fast receivers). Norv Turners best games in Washington were when Stephen Davis was rushing and of course there was Emmitt.

I really doubt that Linehan is acting alone here. My guess is that Jerry is not hands-off in his management here and Linehan is not allowed to become Garrett/Turner/Cameron/Tice/Bratkowski etc who eventually become reduced down to compulsive passing attempts while ignoring the complaints of not using the running game.

Guys it's all a function of necessity - Tony's back. Without that disk surgery we would not be seeing the Cowboys we are seeing today. We would indeed be seeing the Air Coryell stuff straight up.

I think we all have PTSD from 5 years of Garrett.

It's tough to buy into this team right now even though this is certainly the best they've played in many years. My main problem in addition to Garrett still being alive is that Murray could eventually get injured again. That would be the point where this all ends. It would be implausible for us to abandon the run otherwise. We have enough receiving weapons that can't be ignored. Run opportunities should always be there.

I think we are more like last year's Chiefs than last year's Seahawks. We'll eventually get into close games that require head coaching decisions that we're not quite equipped to handle. We're just a few days out from nearly blowing the Houston game because of Ginger.

This is directed towards Mid and UVA, what does Garrett have to do for you to give him some credit to how this team is playing? He has got this team ready to play and we are looking good. The players seem to love him too.
