Ratliff started 23 games at Auburn. All 13 games his Senior year. He actually started 1 game at TE his freshman season.

Nagy started 9 games in his 5 years at Wisconsin. Also, 1 start as a (blocking) TE.
Didn't Nagy get injured and basically lose most of a year? Might have started last year if not for the injury.

And Ratliff only started his senior season. He went from tight end to defensive end to finally a starting job as a defensive tackle where he had a good senior season.

Ironically witten went to school as a defensive end and because of injuries at tight end volunteered to play the position...

Any way both guys were not 4 year starters like Sam young or Murray for whatever, but Ratliff has shown along with others like Matt cassell and mark Sanchez that you don't need to be a 4 year starter to succeed in the NFL.

Our Oline will suck at the start of the season, but I like that we are gutting the hacks and getting fresh blood in. No playoffs thisyear and most of these guys aren't long term, but change is good.

Most of these guys are not long term?

Who do you see not being long term?

Your right, he sux. We're doomed. Lets cancel the season.

I don't care what a player did in college, honestly. It's how they adapt to the pro game and Nagy has done that nicely.

Have you actually watched him play or is it fact that he was a 7th round pick that just throws you off so much?

Nagy has looked very good, try actually watching him play before bitching so much.

Why do morons assume someone that is as passionate as I am towards the Cowboys doesn't watch the games? STFU with that nonsense. I'm guessing you just watch the highlights and happily eat any of the garbage Jerry and his mouthpiece, Mickey, feed you. I watch the game the first time like anyone else. The second time I watch it, I focus on players I either really like or really am concerned about. Unlike you, I don't just clap my hands and scream out Yay everytime I see a Cowboy player running around my TV screen.

Nagy beat out a cast of nobodies in camp and he will be exposed when the games start counting. He won't be alone, Scrappy Doo Costa will be exposed too.

One extreme to the other.

Let's stick our heads in the sand and ignore glaring weaknesses. Lets sit around and wish for rainbows.

Did Nagy play well or did he not? Since you say you've watched all of the games a couple times, you should be able to answer the question.

If you see what everyone else apparently saw, you saw a guy perform pretty solidly. He didnt make any mistakes and showed alot of athletic ability.

So if he's performed well and done his job at a level the team feels is acceptable, who else does he need to beat out? Looks like we got damn lucky.

In the 3 games I watched (and I have watched all of them) I didnt see the OL struggling, did you?

The only struggles I saw were with strength issues from the young guys, excluding Tyron. But I'd rather we get beat by being overpowered than constantly watching Dlinemen blow past our Olinemen as soon as the whistle.

OMGoodness, we're actually, finally! seeing combo blocks, how can people not be excited??

I know I am looking forward to seeing more traps and screens.

If you actually watched the games what has Nagy done that has you so worried?

Is it his strength?

Has he blown assignments?

Has he looked slow when pulling?

Has he struggled in pass pro?

Since you know he will be exposed tell me what his weaknesses are?

Well here's some more sunshine.

In 2009, the Cowboys came off a 9-7 playoff-missing season, in which Romo was injured. That offseason, they lost 6 starters: T.O., Greg Ellis, Chris Canty, Zach Thomas, Roy Williams (safety), and Anthony Henry. Out of those players lost, T.O. was the biggest deal for obvious reasons and nobody saw his release coming. Once released, no one thought that we would replace him and his production.

In come Miles Austin, an UFDA.

Everyone predicted we would finish either 3rd at best but for the most part, last. Romo was healthy and we ended up winning the division.

We now see ourselves coming off a 6-10 seasons, with Romo being injured as well as Dez. This time around we have let go 5 starters: Roy Williams (receiver), Barber, Colombo, Davis, and now Gurode. Out of those players lost, Gurode was the biggest deal for obvious reasons and nobody saw his release coming. Now released, people feel that we will not replace him and his production.

In come Phil Costa, another UFDA.

Everyone predicting we will finish either 3rd at best but for the most part, last. And Romo is healthy for now.

To be continued.

Nagy gets an A for effort. He gets after players but he is slower to get his hands on the DL and he is beaten by initial moves too often. One of the Chargers (Antonio Garay I think, maybe Castillo) was beating him rather easily. This game, the Vikings were without Kevin Williams so he didn't see their best. Still, too many times I saw his player get under him and Nagy had to chase. I want my o-linemen dictating where the d line goes, not the other way around.

I know I have been going off since the Gurode release and it's not that I don't think Nagy can never be a decent player. My take is that he shouldn't be counted on to be starting already on September 11th against the Jets.

It seems to me now that we are in rebuilding mode which is too bad for guys like Romo, Witten, and Ware. This team was maybe 3 free agent signings (not necessarily huge money signings) away from being a Superbowl contender. IMO, we just needed a LG, a FS, and a 3rd WR.

I thought Nagy has played pretty well when given the chance. I'm scared as hell about our O-line though. 3 guys on the O-line who have never started a NFL game? Fuck me sideways....I sure hope the brass know what the hell they are doing.

We run a zone-blocking scheme. It's their job to mirror and slide, not push the Dline around.

You seem to suffer from the Wade Phillips' disease where vets are safe bets, but as we have seen the past few years, that isn't the case. I can handle a young man making young man mistakes, but it's inexcusable when a vet doesn't it constantly. Damn it, Leonard, shuffle your feet!

They've been working a ton on screens and Murray/Felix are great receivers. Ogletrees best route us the jailbreak screen. Garrett has a plan and he's getting his guys.

Woixickzk will muscle these guys up just fine. Championship.
