I never understood the homer philosophy that we would have just blown the pick anyway.

So you're admitting we suck as a Front Office? Because if I said that, you'd lose your mind.

I don't necessarily mean this for dbair, even though he just used it. It's meant for the Zoners and Owners.
It should go for dbair too because they are one and the same.

I think we know that isn't going to happen.

And whoever made the call on that 4th rd pick, if he's now a major contributor to the "process" then nothings really changed. (McClay)

That was absolutely a bone that was thrown to McClay and the scouts.

I hope that it is honestly seen that way and judged accordingly.

I have no issue with destroying Jones for bad picks, but I guarantee he had no idea who the fuck that schlub was.

I wouldn't lose my mind, for whatever reason this franchise struggles badly with middle rd picks. It's all there in black and white for everyone to see.

Therefore if that's to be expected, then the smarter thing to do rather than wasting picks on guys who can't play a lick is to use the picks to move up in early rounds and draft higher rated players.

You guys are going to feel really stupid when Anthony Hopkins is a defense rookie of the year candidate

Except it wasn't mediocre

Other than the 1 pick, they did a damn good job this yr. The picks today were really solid except for the 4th rd guy.

the Texas Tech linebacker was a wasted pick. Dixon is every Safety we already have and Mitchell is criminally slow for a CB. This draft had plenty of headscratchers. Bishop will get a real chance due to the lack of talented DT's on this team.

Whoever signed off on these 2 LB's should be fired.

Not sure why you are hating on a guy picked in the 7th rd that has good measurable and was productive at a major university.

Dixon was a really good value in the 7th.

Love both the DL's we picked in the 7th.

Even the CB we drafted was rated much higher than a late rd pick by all the draft stuff I have.

Honestly, it's a solid overall draft. Stuck to big school guys in the 7th. I think our stupidity was just overwhelming even if it was just two incidents. You don't give up a 3rd in a draft like this and that 4th rounder was as bad a pick as I can remember.

Gardner was one of our better picks. He can play LDE and maybe RDT on passing downs.

Bishop is decent, doesn't stand out to me at all.

Dixon was a big hitter at Baylor. Poor man's Kam Chancellor. My issue is that he is Strong Safety only type and we have those.

Mitchell had some huge turnovers for the Ducks but his lack of speed is going to a bigger deal at this level.

Smith was a wasted pick IMO. How does he win a job with Carter, Lee, Durant, Holloman, and the 4th rounder who will get every chance to make this roster. Maybe Smith is a Special Teams standout?

I think in 3 years we will have Martin, Lawrence, Street, and Gardner left over. 2 starters, 2 reserves. Not great results with 9 players drafted, 11 picks used.

I'm glad they used the later picks on guys pretty much from big schools who were productive. They weren't workout warriors or projections to various positions. Good football players on their team in their conference, a lot of them team captain type guys.

With the severe lack of depth we have, a lot of them will have real chances to make the team and contribute in some way.

You are the kind if fan Jerry loves. Just when you open your eyes, he blinds you with false hope.

Martin is not really what I wanted in the first. There was no decent defender at that point other than the safeties. I would have probably traded up.

You would have traded up as they were on the clock?
