58 and half minutes of possible the best defense they played all year. Some great individual efforts.

Wasted because of the single biggest dipwad fat lard ass brained HC we have ever had.

Has some sort of sick infatuation with this clusterfuck #89 Hendershot, who had yet ANOTHER stupid fucking penalty at the worst time possible. FatFuck actually REWARDED the idiot for stupid shit play by making him a captain and playing him MORE

FIRE THE FAT FUCK TONIGHT

By hook or by crook and a shitlooad of luck…..

We remain unbeaten at home in 2023 and Dak remains undefeated vs the Lions

All of it pure luck

But as always, I’ll take a win anyway I can get it

I love Dan Campbell, he hates losing and bleeds with his team unlike the dipshit cowboys owner who among his many dumbass statements has actually said he's proud of the other team after a loss, WTF?

Mass meltdowns on ESPN and NFLN about the 2pt play. ESPN wont even listen to their own ref expert broadcaster apparently, as he noted after the play it really didnt make any difference who reported, they could have called 1 of 3 different 5 yd penalties for what happened.

Tyler Smith injury hasnt been updated yet, appeared to be some sort of foot injury. He did not return to the game.

Would be a huge loss if he can't play.

Maybe it was holding, but it doesnt appear Hendershot did any tripping (which is a personal foul and 15 yd penalty).

The only attempt at tripping was by the Detroit DL

Its close but not a slam dunk to go for 1 point there imho**. I like the aggression and think you should always err on the side of aggression in the NFL and one of the things I loved about Jimmy. I dont think any other play in Cowboy history gave me more joy than this one:

**sources:

The NFL has had 325 overtime games since the rule was adopted in 1974. The results:
  • The team that has won the toss has won 169 times (52.0%).
  • The team that has lost the toss has won 141 times (43.4%).
  • There have been 15 ties (4.6%).

Pro Football Success Rate When Attempting a Two-Point Conversion

In the years mentioned the success rate was 48.2%. This would have made the two-point attmepts have a negative expected value, and the smart choice would have been to kick it.

Now, however, the smart play might be to attempt the two-point conversion. The expected points from a kick would be 1-point * 95.2%: .952. The expected points from going for two would be 2-points * 48.2%: .964.

Wonder what the math says regarding the chances of winning in OT vs the chances of winning with the 2 point conversion, seems like it might be pretty close but I'm just spit-ballin

Hard for me to bang on Campbell too much for going for the win, he was essentially playing with house money even having a chance at the end. Had McCarthy managed the game correctly it would have never come to that. The bogus tripping call on Hendershot also played a factor.

Maybe he realized his D had done all they could do for 60 mins stopping the Cowboys.

That said, when he passed on the chipshot FG to got for a TD and we stopped them earlier in the game, that seemed pretty stupid. It was from the 4 or 5 yd line.

In the end, on the 3rd attempt Goff had the receiver for the easy 2pt play but he threw a poor pass. Didnt seem it was pressure related either. He just missed it.

As far as Campbell's decision to go for it; the first time was ballsy, second was iffy, the third was just stubborn and foolhardy.

As far as everyone on ESPN and Twitter losing their minds right now go:
Mass meltdowns on ESPN and NFLN about the 2pt play. ESPN wont even listen to their own ref expert broadcaster apparently, as he noted after the play it really didnt make any difference who reported, they could have called 1 of 3 different 5 yd penalties for what happened.

In addition, it's not like that ended the game. They still had two more opportunities to punch it in and couldn't get the job done. No one to blame there but themselves.

Overall, ugly ass win. But if we all have another beer it'll look prettier...

Regardless of what you think of the first attempt, in the end it was in their hands, and they couldn't get it done.
