Not a bad idea, but Brown had a pretty fair year and 5 million is not that much for a starting CB.

That said, barring injuries I doubt Brown is the starting CB next yr (unless he is the #3 guy) as I think our 2nd rd pick is gonna win that job pretty easy. Kid has a ton of talent.

Only so much negotiating you can do when the guy is due 20 million.

Kudos for them, this is probably the biggest bundle of picks they've received for a player since Fasano, et al.

The time for negotiating isnt just when you want to trade the player, its when you want to sign him. I believe you have to fight for as many leverage points as you can and construct deals so the player is tradable but jeri and spawn repeatedly cave and I bet if I could see the contracts, the only thing we'd see they consistently fight tooth and nail over is NDA's so the player is muted from ever saying anything that could reflect poorly on him and his spawn

The only contracts I see where jeri maintains leverage is with coaches because he despises the control Jimmy had and will make damn sure no other coach will ever have that kind of power, he relented a bit with Parcells but once he got his stadium, it was business as usual

They also could have had some foresight that parting ways was likely to happen in 2022 and worked to make a trade last season where his value would have been higher as well as their negotiating leverage because they would be happy to let him play if they dont get what they want. Now, the league knows the Cowboys are desperate to get rid of him and the value of the picks for trade crater because the only incentive for giving up draft capital is to avoid missing out due to their place in the waiver order

this may seem like a miniscule issue but in a league with parity, free agency and a salary cap, you have to fight for every conceivable edge you can find imho

at the end of the day, nothing we say matters, jeri & spawn will continue to run their clown show and clown show results will follow

We just signed Michael Gallop to a 5 year $62.5mil contract
Cant find the breakdown year over year but apparently he got a 10 million signing bonus and 27 million of total guaranteed money.

very patriot-like

except they didnt do that w/ gallup (or did they?)

Maybe they're reading my posts here. I've called for this, for years. Let them test the REAL market not the ersatz assumption one.

Crazy spending out there already. Jags have agreements with several new guys, including Redskins OL Brandon Scherff.

So his cap charge for this year is 4 mils. Pretty favorable especially if he gets healthy and is the same kind of player he was in 2019 and 2020.

Looking like a 2nd yr restructure is coming.

Cedrick Wilson is headed to the Dolphins at 3 years for $22mils.

How will we ever survive?
