and Lord knows they're never wrong about these things. :facepalm

I didn't say it meant he'd be great, but they drafted the best player on their board at #4. It's hard to be upset about that especially when so many clamor for "best player available"

Well if you believe the leaked draft board, Zeke was the #1 player on the board. There were even quotes from Marinelli saying Zeke had to be their guy if he was available. Seems like it was a consensus he was the best player in their eyes.

He's going to bring a lot to the team.

I dont trust anything that emanates out of valley ranch, so much of what is said feels obfuscated, spun and/or manipulated........I feel like I'm listening to politicians double talk when the cowboys speak. I don't believe we'd ever hear Marinelli say the pick was bad so even if he did prop up the pick, there's no way to know if he really believes that or is just promoting the party line

Having said that, I like Zeke and hope he exceeds expectations (which is virtually impossible given the hype train that follows any cowboy player who shows promise)

it should be clear to you by now that I don't trust their judgment. you know who takes Jaylon Smith high in the 2nd round? a team that's loaded and can afford to gamble. that ain't us. we needed help now.

Not debating the Jaylon Smith thing, I had an epic forum meltdown here over the pick. Seems like a great kid and he was a great player before the injury, but totally agree it was a risk we shouldn't have taken then.

Now 5 yrs from now if he's made a few probowls or all pro teams, I guess I'll get over it but it wasn't a well thought out decision by the team IMO either.

I wouldn't call drafting Zeke a "mistake" so much as a much less than optimal use of resources. (Unless he isn't very good, which nobody expects.)

Imagine this team with Ramsey instead of the worthless Church, plus Jack at LB. Then we could really be looking at something this year.

Well we now have a 1400 yard piece of trade bait in McFadden

It would be nice to get some depth on the D line for him

Shit I'd take a stale bag o chips for him

He did a good job for us last year but he simply is not needed. He's more valuable as a trade piece than as a 3rd or 4th back

Why isn't McMuffin playing?

I remember saying that exact thing after the draft and pretty much everyone here said I was crazy and that There was no way in hell DMC wouldn't be the starter this season.

Has Ramsey shown anything at all yet? I don't think he played in their first preseason game did he?

As for Jack, I don't know what the docs looked at and considered when comparing him to the Jaylon Smith situation but it seems they were convinced Smith's long term prognosis was better than Jack's.

On the leaked draft board, where did they have Jack in relation to Smith, anyone remember?

McFadden suffered an elbow injury and has been on PUP. they expect him to be back in another week or two.

I'd definitely be trying to trade him before week one assuming he gets healthy and none of our top-3 backs get hurt. Even if we just got a 5th or 6th rd pick for him, its something. Although maybe trading him plus a pick to get another DE would be nice too.

There's no way I'd keep him or Dunbar here unless someone gets hurt.

Jackson is also a main reason DMC and Dunbar should be gone. Jackson plays ST and has shown to be a good receiver out of the backfield. I'll say it again, I will be shocked if DMC or Dunbar make the team. If they can pull off a trade for either/both then great. If not, it's time to cut bait either way.

Yeah if they try and slip Darius Jackson through to the PS I think they are going to be sorely disappointed. Some RB needy team (whether its for a feature guy or a promising young backup with upside) is going to jump all over him on waivers.

If we lost Jackson at the expense of trying to keep McFadden and/or Dunbar I'd be pretty pissed.

Yeah, I can see that happening too.

In order to stop the power running game and its dynamic rookie RB, will defensive coordinators be forced out of desperation to single Dez?

It could happen. And that isn't going to end well for defenses.

Also factor in that Williams is in a contract year and is extremely motivated to get that big payday. He's looked pretty good and no way in hell any team is going to double him.

IIRC they both had 1st round grades with Jack one place below Smith.

I'm ready to shit can McFadden and Dunbar and roll with Elliott, Jackson, and Morris as our bruising backs.

Just wear defenses down all season.

Watched first qtr of Giants/Bills

Giants D pretty active and athletic, did get burned for one long play to TE but got a forced fumble on GL to hold out Bills.

Giants offense looks pretty awful. Their OL is getting whipped bad.

This is exactly my feeling. Love Zeke the player, just think we could have gotten more out of the 4th pick and I think we would still be a very good offense with Morris/McFadden. Then, you throw in landing Darius Jackson in the 6th and we are LOADED at RB.

Imagine this team with Ramsey instead of the worthless Church, plus Jack at LB. Then we could really be looking at something this year.
I'll take you one step further, imagine if we would have drafted Jeremy Langford over Chaz Green in the 3rd round (pick 91) last year? Then we truly wouldn't have been tempted to take Elliott.

Ramsey and Jack on the defense would have caused me to pass out on draft day.

Bills pretty much flogging the Giants. Giants starting offense managed 1 first down (and they still have only 1 first down at the half)

Giants OL was awful. Also their backup QB Ryan Nassib is horrendous, and this is a guy CZers were suggesting two weeks ago we should pursue as Romo's backup.

While adding Jack this year would have been nice and I think the combo of him and Lee would have been excellent (assuming both stayed healthy) I cant bring myself to agree with you on the rest of your thinking. Jeremy Langford is a JAG and I firmly believe in 5 yrs there wont be much doubt about Elliott being better than Jalen Ramsey either.

Yeah No shit

Wouldn't that be fucking amazing

I thought I read all the fantasizing over a Bosa trade was just that, fantasy. Something about the rookie cap pool is set after the draft is complete and you have to fit all of your rooks under it, even if you acquire another one/s later. I think I read Bosa would pretty much have had to agree to a minimum wage deal for a trade to happen.

That pick still pisses me off. Especially after the last report stating that his nerve "should be firing" by now and it still isn't

He's still got the limp foot syndrome with no signs of improvement yet

With that said "if" he comes back from this injury we will be in good shape next year with essentially two fresh first round picks!

Where was this said? I haven't seen that. I thought they've always said they really didn't know when it would start functioning properly again.
