Imbecile. You were pettifogging now you act like duuuuuuhh when all you had to do really was just ignore what was posted instead of your stupid assed backhand defending of dumb luck Jerry.

This is all just dumb fucking luck. Stop trying to act like it's the culmination of some grand strategic plan.

I don't think you can say he is all luck anymore Dooms. This is 10 games into the season now (not a handful of early season games against teams that have no idea what he can do) and the kid is passing every test with flying colors. I'm sure at some point he has got to have a bad game or two but to totally write everything associated with him off as nothing more than dumb luck at this point is being stupid.

He's worked his ass off, its obvious that MANY people missed some of the talent he had because they were all obsessed with "he plays in a Tim Tebow offense so he must be just like him!!!!" You also have to credit the coaches for putting him in a position to succeed. After the past few years of Romo missing games and seeing what a disaster the team has been without him, you cant make the case that Prescott is only succeeding because of the supporting cast. Other than Zeke, all these guys have been here with the Weeden's, Cassell's and Moores and none of them looked like Prescott has, and the team itself hasn't looked anything like this when Romo was out either.

He may not be the most gifted pure passing talent but he has maximized his skill pretty quick, and his intangible stuff is off the charts good right now.

Brissett? Where'd you hear that? I hadn't heard that anywhere. Everyone knew they loved Wentz and Lynch and that they tried like crazy to move up for Lynch, and then tried early 4th to get Cook. But I never heard anything about them preferring Brissett.

When we drafted Prescott at the end of the 4th, there were still people crying about what a wasted pick he was.

Unless you have the first pick of the draft, a lot of it IS luck because who you end up with is totally dependent on what other teams do. There's a ton of teams kicking themselves over Prescott right now, so yes we got lucky. But like I said to Dooms, you cant act like they didn't know who he was or just picked him because they threw a dart at a board and his picture was there. They put a lot of time into him, and this was reported all over the place the entire draft process.

As for the Showers stuff, how'd that end up?

IMO, they lose any bragging rights by waiting so late to draft Dak. IIRC, even Stephen was crowing about how lucky they were to get him.

Having said that, I do recall hearing stories that Wade Wilson was really high on him pre draft but if I know jeri, he probably laughed Wade out of the building like jeri did when Larry Lacewell suggested they trade their entire draft in order to acquire Payton Manning

They were. Damn lucky nobody picked him before us, especially since so many other QB's DID get picked before we had to settle for Mr Prescott.

Dak is a miracle. Almost every scouting report I read said the same things I saw when I watched him play..relies on his athleticism, inaccurate, slow delivery, etc. The guy has made a lot of people look stupid.

The Cowboys liked him at the Senior Bowl so I'll give them credit, but let's not forget:
They wanted Wentz.
They tried to trade up for Lynch.
They tried to trade up for Cook.
They passed on Dak 4 times.
When Kellen Moore got hurt, and after seeing Dak in rookie mini-camps, they still tried to acquire a veteran QB...Nick Foles, inquired about Josh McCown.

So, again, Dak is a miracle. I could care less that I was dead wrong about him, I am enjoying the ride.

Right? I shudder at the thought of them missing out on Dak by waiting so long to draft him, I cant believe our good fortune.

Its literally changed the next 10-15 years of Cowboy football, provided he stays healthy and this year hasn't been some RG3 type mirage (which I dont think it is).

Plus he gives us another 10+ years of shit talking each other here

Same here. Dak makes the whole team play above their ability. The culture has changed.

I wont argue against that. He's senile as hell.

Here's an idea though, instead of being such a tiring unbearable asshat, why not ENJOY what we're seeing on the field for once. Who cares if its because Jones got lucky? I'm not a fan of Jones, I'm a fan of the team. This year's team is a breath of fresh air no matter how the season ends up and the future appears pretty bright.

Get that red hot poker out of your asshole.

Dooms, if you performed well above average, top 5 in the world at your job, and some kid took your job, it may take you a little bit to process it. I enjoyed many games with Romo, but in the back of my mind I always expected the untimely pick. I like the guy and he was amazing at times. I am ready to move on, but to bash him with unsubstantiated bullshit is not right either.

I DO fucking enjoy it, nimrod. But I want to make damn sure to remember what it really is and enjoy it for what it is, and not some stupid shit about Jerry and/or Ginger genius. It's luck, just like riding a hot pair of dice at the craps table.

Riding that streak at craps is a blast.

The article didn't bash him, it just stated facts.

Based on your knowledge of the game and your vocal opposition to him I took a wait and see attitude. 4th round? Fine. Take a flyer. So happy it worked out.

Every great QB we've had is the result of some sort of massive luck.

Staubach ending up here was massive luck. The Naval commitment is all that prevented some team from nabbing him #1 or #2 overall.

Getting Troy Aikman was really lucky. All Green Bay had to do was lose on the road against a team much better than them the final week of the season, and they'd have had the #1 pick in 1989 instead of us. Instead they won, and we got the top pick.

Romo was massive luck. UNDRAFTED. Then we got lucky that the ultimate bonehead Quincy Carter got busted for drugs before the start of the 2004 season, otherwise Romo was going to be released and they would have had him on the PS at best, and more likely he would've ended up somewhere else.

Hopefully Prescott ends up as good for us as these guys, especially the first two because they won huge games and championships.
