The "power back" thing is a misconception. A finesse back would do just fine running through giant holes. Emmitt is the most durable back ever. I don't think anyone save for cowboy homers would call him the best back ever though. Payton and Barry were both better, and Jim Brown was likely a level above all of them.
Barry was not facing as many 8-men fronts as Emmitt. As I stated he rarely faced 3 LBs.
