per the propaganda spewed out by dallascowboys.com

He was an Arena League coach, let's calm down on praising his hard work to become Jerry's latest lackey and future fall guy.

Will McClay sits there quietly on draft day. It may be his work that sets up the board, but he does not appear to have any say on actual decisions.

According to Jerry he was the main voice advising him to draft Travis Frederick (2 time All Pro). Also he's the main one that talked him into drafting Zach Martin over Johnny 8Ball.

When did he say that? I would love to read it. Everything I've heard and read said it was Stephen who talked him down off the Manziel ledge. Stephen said he told his dad to trust the scouts in the room and stick to the board. They wanted Anthony Barr, Aaron Donald, or Ryan Shazier. They were all gone and Zack Martin was highest player available. Jerry tried to push for Johnny since their Top 3 guys were all gone.

And who is the lead scout Stephen was talking about? And Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was also considered and was still on the board.

Stephen said scouts in the room nothing about head scout. I also don;t think HaHa was considered that high. Where are you getting all this from?

But so we are straight, your overall take is that after years of Jerry insisting that he was the GM during the Super Bowl years and that he would always be...that he didn't need anyone to tell him how to run this team.....that Bill Parcells made him uncomfortable....and now he has suddenly given up that authority to Will McClay?

I don't think Jerry mentioned any names specifically when talking about he Zack Martin thing, just that "everyone else in the room" was against Manziel, except him.

I just have this niggling feeling they think they have it covered, much like last year when I had a feeling they would not draft a RB. I think these idiots really believe they have Romo for at least four more years, and besides - 400 yards out of Moore!!!

Wouldn't shock me at all if they fail to draft any quarterbacks.

I guess we'll see. Could depend on how the draft falls. If for whatever reason they pass on one at #4, all of the top QB's MIGHT be gone by the time they pick in round two, leaving them to look at either badly reaching for someone in the 2nd or 3rd or waiting till day three to take a project and hoping they get lucky.

That's great, remind me which team you are paid to scout for again?

All kidding aside, again I don't think he'd be THAT much higher graded than some of the guys we clearly have a need position for. Tunsil is not one of the greatest OT prospects in the history of the league here. He's a quality prospect no doubt, but he's a quality prospect at a position area we are loaded at.

If we didn't have Smith or were leery of keeping him long term, I could be swayed. But that's not the case.

I made it clear that if we can get a good deal and the top QBs are gone (frankly I think only Goff is worth that high a pick and that is borderline) trade down. Tunsil is the best prospect THIS year - in other years he might only make top 10. But lets look hard at the so called top prospects this year besides QB and Tunsil:

Ramsey. Does not create turnovers. To me you pick a DB this high and he needs to have a history of creating turnovers.
Bosa. NOT an elite pass rusher; and this high he needs to be
Treadwell. Got serious holes in his game. Raw but I just do not see a prospect worth a top 5 pick.
Jack is someone who is intriguing- but not as a top 5 pick

MEANWHILE we have who behind Free; and Free is deteriorating. DO you really think he has another year left that can go 16 games PLUS PLAYOFFS? Green has shown nothing outside a propensity to get injured.
Actually if we cannot trade down much at all I would take what we can get and maybe grab Stanley. Or if we can go down to say 10 or so take a good hard look at the DTs. HAYDEN MUST GO!

I agree, thats a concern I've raised in here a few times. Where are the big plays? Doesnt seem like he makes many.

Bosa. NOT an elite pass rusher; and this high he needs to be

I dont know if I agree about this. I know his sack total was down this yr (5.0) but he still had 16 TFL's. Last year he had a dominant year, recording 13 1/2 sacks and 21 TFL's. His first yr he had 7 1/2 sacks and 13 1/2 TFL's. Those are really strong numbers. If he is available at 4, if we dont re-sign Hardy (and I dont think we will) I think he would be worth considering. You could put him at LDE, move Lawrence to RDE and use Gregory as mainly a pass rusher on nickel/dime downs.

Treadwell. Got serious holes in his game. Raw but I just do not see a prospect worth a top 5 pick.

Unless there is something more wrong with Dez long term that they arnt telling us, I wouldnt consider Treadwell at all.

Jack is someone who is intriguing- but not as a top 5 pick

If he is the playmaker at MLB people believe he is and he is healthy, it sounds like he is well worth an early pick, maybe even our 4th overall. I dont think they re-sign McClain (unless its a bargain deal) and even if they do, I wouldnt just hand him the MLB job after what we saw this year.

MEANWHILE we have who behind Free; and Free is deteriorating. DO you really think he has another year left that can go 16 games PLUS PLAYOFFS? Green has shown nothing outside a propensity to get injured.

They can find a starting RT anywhere. Value free agent or mid to even late round round pick. If Green is healthy I expect he will strongly challenge for the RT spot. There's no way I'd invest our top pick on a RT this year, not with what we already have invested the past few years. Its overkill.

I am hoping we get Goff, Wentz or Lynch with our top pick. If that doesnt happen and they are stuck at 4, Bosa is someone I'd consider. I wouldnt be shocked if they considered Elliott there as there are probably quite a few teams between 8-15 or so that would take him, meaning if we move down they might miss out on him. Jack might be a serious upgrade to the LB corp and give us another playmaker in the front 7.

Ton of good DT's, I would think they'd definitly consider some of those but not in the early part of round one.

247Sports

247sports has a solid 5 pick logical wish list considering what might be available. I would be very happy with this 5. Wentz, Dixon, Adolphus W., Braxton, and that CB. If nothing else having players named Braxton and Adolphus may be enough for at least two more wins than just having Jerome Henderson would give Dallas.

and Hue Jackson has had success with gingers :facepalm

I think whatever QB Cleveland drafts they are going to absolutely ruin them. If they do draft Wentz though, it only pushes Goff down to the Cowboys which id be more than happy with.
