I paid attention to Wilcox last night ... he looked good (other than the one time he slipped ).

After Wilcox left the game and the scrubbiest of the scrubs came in, the Dolphin receivers were wide open. WIDE open.

Yeah, Moore had 2 or 3 wide open receivers on nearly every play toward the end of the game.

It was pretty crazy to see. Even with a scrub defense.

Oh - you mean about Wilcox.

well I'm telling you, you couldn't see it on TV, but from the stands, you could tell that Wilcox was wearing a cape and had a big "S" on his chest.

I think the "S" is for "stud".

We were in a very vanilla, strict Cover 2 and Moore knew it. He kept throwing it to the spot in a Cover 2 where the Cornerback stops and the Safety has to be able to get over. This is what scares me about our slow-footed safeties. I realize this was with 4th stringers against a decent QB but this has always been and will always be the weak spot of the Tampa 2 (Kiffin's basic Cover 2). The Safeties have to be able to read quarterbacks and must be able to cover ground quickly.

He looked lost on that play.

Almost like he only has like a year experience playing the position and that year was spent at some refrigerator college or something.

I was pleasantly surprised. I still think we will have issues with the run up the middle and short passes over the middle. I am very concerned about safety play against better QB's. It does look promising. The attacking attitude was there.

Agreed.

I wish Matt Johnson would stay healthy because he's fast and brings people down with alot of power and technique.

That was a bad read.

He might have had 1st man out duties on that play. If you look the RB pretends like he is going out to the flats and it freezes Wilcox long enough for the slot receiver to get past him. If he has 1st man out then another player (Holloman or Johnson) would have had that Zone responsibility. Only the coaches and Wilcox will know what his responsibility was there. Not exactly shocked that he could make a mistake in his first ever NFL action though.

Yeah, cmd. It looked like a good call more than anything else.

Kind of like Romo killing it with the fake delay hand-off. It just freezes everybody in the middle of the defense.

All I know is that if Wilcox would have made a better play maybe Matt Johnson wouldn't be hurt.

I thought Wilcox looked alright. He was around the ball and he looks like he is built to play safety.

BTW, Johnson grabbed his ankle like it was shattered in 3 places...but it was just a sprain and could have returned?

I thought he looked very good at Center but struggled at Guard. He got blown off the line twice that I noticed.

Or maybe I'm just lowering the bar, but I thought Leary looked pretty good. I'm not buying into the overall Jerryed-up hype of him yet, but he looked more than decent.
