I would think we would target DT also. When Jerry gets a new coach in, he seems to try to give him what he wants. And we could use a truly talented DT anyway.

But this morning I listened to a Lacewell podcast from the Ticket a couple of days ago, and Norm asked him about our OL. He said he thought we had players to make the D work right now, but we can't keep getting Romo killed. He said no matter what we did on D, we have to be able to protect Tony, run the ball better, and score inside the 20, and a lot of that goes back to OL.

So with Lacewell seeming to gain more influence lately, I wonder if we don't go OL pretty high. Of course a lot depends on what we might do in FA first.

Oh gawd TE you just got me excited.

Please let Lacewell be in Jerry's ear on this matter, or have Lacewell be parroting what Jerry is/has been saying behind closed doors.

I know, how often have we wished Jerry would listen to Lacewell more? :awkward

But yeah, that was good to hear. Especially because he was always a defensive coach. And I could be reading too much into his tone, but he almost sounded a little mystified as to why we'd let the OL be bad for so long.

I notice that this Stretch Smith guy who has also been a good source lately seems to think we basically have the players to be good in the 43 right now, too. Not sure if that's because he talks to Lacewell or because they just think alike. I hope they aren't overestimating what we have on D (of course this was all before Rat got DWI'd) but I think I'd rather they do that and fix the OL.

Agreed, Jerry does seem to cater to the new coach/new movement. He also looks at what's hot in the League and both Superbowl teams have invested big on O Line. Both Harbaugh's use that almost Single Wing looking line-up with an overloaded O-Line where they bring in a 4th and sometimes 5th Tackle. Right now for us that would be Jermey Parnell and Damion Weems (or David Arkin or Ron Leary) and that's not scaring anyone.

Either way, O Line or D Line, it will be nice to finally address.

The Ravens OL really isnt all that great CMD.

Michael Oher (1st round pick) , Bryant McKinnie (UFA), Kelechi Osemele (2nd round pick), Marshall Yanda (3rd round pick), Matt Birk (UFA), Bobbie Williams (UFA), and Gino Gradkowski (4th round pick) beat our top 7 guys IMO.

McKinnie wasnt even starting again until a few weeks ago, how many times have they got him off the scrap heap now? And he replaced Oher at LT and they moved Oher back to RT (again) because he stunk there. I like both their guards alot more than ours, but Birk is kinda ancient like McKinnie is and I believe is retiring after the season.

because Jah Reid was hurt, so they have him in the mix next year as well.

Would not be surprising if Luke Joeckel, Lane Johnson, DJ Fluker, Eric Fisher all go top-10. Toss Chance Warmack into mix, could have 5 OL.

Yeah. I'm sure that happens.

I don't think there's ever been a draft where 5 OL went even in the top 20.

Was told this by someone at the Senior Bowl: Someone asked Ansah if he preferred a 2, 3, or 4 point stance. He didn't know what they were.
