I'm just wondering why Romo or Garrett didn't call a timeout when they were struggling to get the O lined back up after that Dez reception.

And they need to get Dez to toe the line. He can't keep letting his emotions get in the way.

No. You don't run a play there with no timeouts. The correct answer was to spike or have 2 plays called.

This team has so many procedure screw ups After timeouts it makes me question if they even care as much as we do

Who's fault is that?

Serious answer..

You're obviously looking for me to say Garrett and I agree which leads to Garrett sucks, fire him, etc, etc but the looming shadow hanging over this franchise is Jerry Jones and he doesn't value the head coaching position, has to have his sorry, ugly mug in everything and now that he has his stadium, I don't think he'll every relinquish control in such a way that will enable a coach to have the best chance at success. So all that will happen if Garrett is dumped is the beginning of yet another coaching carousel with a less than optimal coach that is hamstrung by the owner and his management structure.

So given the albatross (i.e. Jerry Jones) that comes with coaching this team, we're screwed. So I still say just let Garrett stay and learn on the job and hope he can improve where he is deficient. He's not perfect, but he's not stupid like many like to claim and is doing several good things imo. There is no perfect coach available and even if he was, I doubt Jerry would hire him or let him do his job without being hamstrung.

So given the goofy structure and mentality of the Cowboys organization, I feel like they're as good with Garrett as they would be with anyone Jerry would hire. I'm not saying he's the best man for the job but I do feel he is probably as good as the Cowboys are going to get considering what I wrote above.

Jerry Jones:
I don't take exception with how
we handled the clock at the end.

Or to put it more succinctly, I'm at stage 5 (acceptance) in the five stages of grief

I often think this team is jinxed..let me take another sip

Several years ago, I first recognized that Romo is a character from an ancient Greek tragedy. Nothing has happened in the meantime to shake this belief. He's like Oedipus, except instead of marrying his mother, he had to marry Garrett.

It wasn't Oedipus's fault. It isn't Romo's fault. Just bad karma. Fate. Tragic fate.

It isn't all bad for Romo, of course. He's had sex with Jessica Simpson, Carie Underwood, and Candice (who isn't his mother). He's also rich. But he'll go down as an epic loser.

(Unless he finishes his career with another team.)

I don't see it like "Garrett doesn't even have a shot".

He's got like 30 games under his belt and 2 off-seasons and were seeing the same emberassing mistakes over and over again. Where is the hope? Where is the tangible improvements ?

If you factor in nick foles you could make the case the entire division is trending upwards but us.

Hey man, I feel your frustration more than you know but we could go round and round til the cows come home and do we really think anything is going to change at the top that would trickle down to the coaching and players?

The hope I have is that Garrett is a smart guy that appears to be hungry and ambitious. I believe he wants to win, I think he can improve and I think he has unique sway with JJ that could prove beneficial.

I'm not wild about his end game clock management and I'm not a fan of his robotic, dry way of speaking (but I'm not sure how much that really matters in the scheme of things), I like the motivational & team building tactics he is employing (ex: visiting the Navy Seals), I like how he seeks other successful coaches in an attempt to learn from their success, I think he has the respect of NFL coaches which is important when trying to build a staff, I agree with the "right kind of guy" mentality and despite todays loss, I saw a team that kept fighting til the bitter end. So I do think he brings a lot of what I want in a coach to the table. These are just a few things that give me hope.

I just fear its going to take more time than we as fans would like and I suspect there is a pretty good chance that by the time the Oline, special teams and creating a full 53 man roster gets done, it will be too late for guys like Tony, Witten & Ware and if that proves true, they will be searching to replace the most important position on the team when they finally have a team to support a good QB. It might be better for these guys if they improve as a team but just can't get enough w's this year and end up with a high draft pick next year that would give them a better chance of competing at a high level in 2013.

My biggest concern with Garrett is his shallow reservoir of experience to pull from when he needs it most. The best coaches earned their stripes through years of experience, usually starting at the bottom and working their way up (coaches like Belichik, both Harboughs & Coughlin come to mind). He has been around football his entire life, like Belichik, his dad was a scout and he should have a huge wealth of knowledge to pull from. He just hasn't been in the coaches seat very long or often and it makes me wonder if you can pull blood from a turnip, no matter how smart that turnip may be.

I am still trying to figure out how MO looks like he has a season ending knee injury and he comes back and plays?

He put too much stress on his ankle complaining to the side judge. Did anyone notice him throw his hands up in disgust and then grab his leg?

I love to jump on the blame Garrett train, but how is he responsible for people not staying in their lanes on special teams' kick coverage? We win this game without that gaffe. Probably. Maybe.
