LSU DE Michael Brockers — The Cowboys love the 6-foot-5, 320-something pounder from LSU, even though he’s young and relatively unproven. And yes, even though he barely rushed the passer at LSU, playing mostly on first- and second-downs. They believe he can rush the passer, even if he didn’t show it much. With the Tigahs, they rotate so many linemen, everyone just has a role. Brockers is a Cowboys fan (and that’s kinda cool), and he doesn’t have many questions marks. That’s why they spent tons of time with Barron, but just decided at the last minute to bring in Brockers. And they barely showed interest in him on the road. Make no mistake, interest is there.
He’s a perfect five-technique for this scheme, and he’d take pressure off pass-rusher DeMarcus Ware, tying up blockers and setting the edge. I’m not saying he’s Richard Seymour, but the comparisons are fairly obvious. If Barron is gone, this could be the direction the Cowboys head. And it would help immediately.
