Thats not entirely true.

He had a huge one to stop a drive in the 4th qtr, but it got wiped out by a bullshit call.

I see our guys get gang raped running routes sometimes, and they call that ticky tack shit on Elam? Moore never had a chance on that play to even throw the ball. They need to rethink that rule.

Ryan’s Defense does a ton of different things. You have to go back and rewatch the game to notice them. Today some of the big plays were the corners not locating the ball in the air. Not making a play on the ball. No scheme is gonna fix that. But generally the big plays are because of busted coverages. I don’t think Ryan can do everything he wants without fear that the players will fuck up the assignment. Notice the smart player has to get everyone else lined up...Lee.

Ryan is not taking responsibility in this press conferences. He is a pretty honest guy. He takes the sword if it’s on him...he hasn’t the past two weeks. He blamed the players for fucking up the coverages.

No doubt the defense has a lot more work to do. Currently his defense is 7-4 and in first place.

I really thought the defense would get better as the year wore on, but it hasnt. Have to admit I am disappointed in that.

That said, we need some upgrades on defense at basically every level. DL, OLB opp Ware and secondary, especially the two safety spots. I would think about maybe keeping Sensabaugh or Elam (I would probably choose Sensabaugh if I were picking) but there's no way I'd bring both of them back to start next year. I think Jenkins is fine for us long term at one CB spot, but Scandrick is not a starting calibar CB and Newman cant be counted on forever. I'd be looking for another CB fairly early too.

Elam is awful as the help safety. Totally useless in coverage down the field.

I dont agree on the call though, that was total bullshit and it had no impact on the result of the play whatsoever.

And Anthony Davis flat out sux at RT. He got abused all night long. I think they used the 11th pick of the draft on him last year, and he nearly got beat out in training camp this year.

I think the ceiling of this defense might not be as high as we thought. The Ryan scheme needs top flight corners and i am not sure we have enough of them. The defense also needs an offseason to get it all down.

Just giving thanks for Sparano not going for two after the Marshall TD. You can also make the case that he should have let us score intentionally late in the game, but I guess he was counting on a missed or blocked FG.

That throw to Witten when he steamrolled the cheerleader was ridiculous. It was a wounded duck of a pass, but he had a fraction of a second to get it off.
