We will ever see a QB era like we did in the 90s again?

Marino, Elway, Montana, Aikman, Young, Moon, Favre, Jim Kelly, Mark Brunell, Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason, Drew Bledsoe, etc.

Outside of Manning and Brady, I honestly believe most of the starting QBs in the NFL today would be backups in the 90s. As much as players get bigger and stronger every year, I see them as watered down talent.

That could be because I grew up mostly in that era and learned to love the game from watching those guys, I dunno.

Some of these quarterbacks played when I first started watching NFL football. I first remember watching football in the 80s. As for being bigger and stronger that does not always make someone a better football player. Joe Montana was not only a great quarterback but he seemed to have this will that could go out and find ways to win. Dan Marino might be the greatest quarterback of all time and if not he is one of them. John Elway had a great arm, I remember watching him throw that touchdown pass in Super Bowl 22. I also remember seeing Elway win his first Super Bowl.

Cowboys 27 Eagles 17. If the Eagles had a chance of getting a first round bye or if another team had a chance of taking the 3rd seed away from them I might would have said it will be a closer game.

I think the Chiefs need to do everything that can to win today. I know they can't get a first round bye, but if the Colts win and if the Chiefs get beat the Colts would have the 3rd seed and the Chiefs would have the 4th seed. The may not seem like much of a difference now, but if both of those teams make it to the AFC Championship that could be a big difference.

Dan Marino isn't even one of the top 10 QBs of all time.

People confuse the ability to throw the football with being a true field general and leader of your team.

Marino wilted on the big stage. To me, he's a white Warren Moon.

If the Eagles needed this game, they'd mop up the floor with the Cowboys.

I think we'll win because they don't care. And even more than that, they just want to get through it healthy for the real game next week.

Now that Jason Garrett has the interim tag removed, who will our DC be?

I don't think we know until after the playoffs.

I had a discussion with a co-worker...Who's the better QB - Staubach or Favre?

We talked about how their playing styles were similar.

I wasn't around to see Staubach's career, so I wouldn't pretend to know.

But I think Favre will be considered better by most.

And I don't mean most here. This is a very bias group of fans. I'm talking around the entire NFL. Most would probably consider Favre the better QB.

From our conversation, there wasn't a clear cut answer. Favre did more with less around him. Since Favre and Staubach were so similar, you could choose Favre because Favre did it for twice as long.

However, Staubach made the Super Bowl in almost 50% of his seasons started...hard to argue that. Moreover, Staubach played in a much tougher, physical punishment era and pre-1978 pass-emphasized era.

Staubach retired as the NFL's #1 QB in passer rating...however, Staubach didn't start until he was 28/29 years old and it's debatable if years 24-28 would've improved/worsened Staubach's career.

This is the NFL's list during the Super Bowl era...

4. Joe Montana
8. Peyton Manning
20. Brett Favre
21. Tom Brady
23. John Elway
25. Dan Marino
46. Roger Staubach
50. Terry Bradshaw
51. Bart Starr
80. Troy Aikman
81. Steve Young
90. Kurt Warner
91. Fran Tarkenton
100. Joe Namath

...Brett Favre as the #3 QB all-time is pretty ridiculous. Staubach is #7, but highest pre-1978 rated QB.

Without looking at the numbers, I doubt Staubach turned the ball over as much. Some people might make that the final call between the two. Staubach was less likely to get you beat on a bonehead throw.

On the other hand, Favre threw for more yards and TDs. You always had a chance when he was on your side.

Dan Marino stuck in there with winners bothers me.

Marino has some real good teams and when it came down to crunch time, he did more finger pointing than leading.

No question he was one of the most, if not thee, most gifted throwers of the football. But as an overall QB, I think he falls short of the greats.
