Jerry has gone the minimal route the last 2 off-seasons and decides to Go Big this year.

After upgrading the coaching staff, getting experienced assistants to help Jason Garrett, he gets aggressive in Free Agency.

Following players leave via Free Agency:
Anthony Spencer OLB
Bradie James ILB
Keith Brooking ILB
Abe Elam SS
Martellus Bennett TE
Alan Ball CB
Frank Walker CB
Montrae Holland G
Derrick Dockery G
Sammy Morris RB
Jon Kitna QB (retired)
Terrence Newman (cap casualty)
Marcus Spears DT (traded for 2013 draft pick)

Following players re-signed:
Mat McBriar P
Laurent Robinson WR
Tony Fiametta FB

Following players signed:
Calais Campbell DE Arizona Cardinals - Big money signing. Finally, a talented 3-4 DE. Campbell is big and athletic and will have a huge impact on the Front 7.
Ahmad Brooks OLB San Francisco 49ers – Attitude and depth. He will compete with Victor Butler for Spencer’s departed job. He plays with the kind of passion this defense lacks and can play all 4 LB spots.
Kirk Morrison ILB Buffalo Bills – More depth and insurance in case Bruce Carter isn’t ready to start.
Aaron Ross CB NY Giants – Hurts the Giants, helps us. Solid, not spectacular CB, with great speed.
Tom Zbikowski FS Baltimore Ravens – Adds more toughness and can also return kicks.
Chilo Rachal G San Francisco 49ers – In 2010 he rated as one of the top run-blocking guards. In 2011, he was in and out of the starting line-up. He went to a trainer and lost 30 lbs. during the lockout and my guess is he didn’t adjust to playing at a smaller weight. At 6-5, 305 lbs. and he will be only 26, I would take a chance on him. Won’t cost as much as Carl Nicks or Ben Grubbs.

This isn’t the Philadelphia Eagles all over again. Outside of Campbell, these are not big names. They are players that fit a role and fill holes in our line-up. We will lose 8 to 10 free agents, so signing 6 players to replace them is not unrealistic.
Draft:
1. Peter Konz C 6-5/315 Wisconsin– This is assuming the medical concerns are not an issue. Will solidify the center position for the next decade.
2. Jarvis Jones OLB 6-2/242 Georgia – Surprise pick here but will be the complimentary pass rusher we have been missing.
3. Brandon Boykin CB/KR 5-10/183 Georgia – Another bulldog. Helps CB depth and return game.
4. Ladarius Green TE 6-6/236 La.-Lafayette – will be what we hoped Bennett would be as a receiving TE. Has time to learn behind Witten and Phillips.
5. Ryan Broyles WR Oklahoma – We take our annual injury risk a little later this year. He would be a colossal steal in the 5th round.
6. Jeff Demps RB/KR 5-8/191 Florida – Runs a 4.26 40 time, Garrett will find a way to use him on offense. Another boost to the return game.
7. Case Keenum QB 6-1/210 Houston – Will compete for the 3rd QB job.

2 Deep
QB – Tony Romo, Stephen McGee
RB – DeMarco Murray, Felix Jones
FB – Tony Fiametta, (John Phillips)
WR – Miles Austin, Laurent Robinson
WR – Dez Bryant, Kevin Ogletree (Ryan Broyles?)
TE – Jason Witten, John Phillips
LT – Tyron Smith, Jermey Parnell
LG – Kyle Kosier, Bill Nagy
C - Peter Konz, Kevin Kowalski
RG - Chilo Rachal, David Arkin
RT – Doug Free, (Jermey Parnell)

LDE – Calais Campbell, Sean Lissemore
NT – Jay Ratliff, Josh Brent
RDE – Jason Hatcher, Kenyon Coleman
LOLB – Jarvis Jones, Victor Butler
LILB – Sean Lee, Ahmad Brooks
RILB – Bruce Carter, Kirk Morrison
ROLB – DeMarcus Ware, (Ahmad Brooks)
LCB – Mike Jenkins, Brandon Boykin
SS – Gerald Sensabaugh, Barry Church
FS – Tom Zbikowski, Danny McCray
RCB – Aaron Ross, Orlando Scandrick

K – Dan Bailey
P – Mat McBriar
KR – Brandon Boykin, Jeff Demps
PR – Jeff Demps, Dez Bryant

That would be a great signing.

Agree, we wont be bystanders in free agency this year. We have alot of cap flexibility and the needs are obvious.

This will be a real interesting part of the offseason IMO. What changes are made to the coaching staff.

Pretty much agree, though I doubt Spears is traded.

I cant recall, what did Hatcher sign for last yr? Did he get a 1yr deal or 2yr deal? If its only a yr, they'll need to address keeping him.

Love the idea of Campbell, he would be a great addition. But I cant see the Cards letting him walk away. They'll slap the franchise tag on him for sure IMO.

No way to Aaron Ross. He cant cover you or I, let alone anyone else. Unless he's for some ultra bargain basement deal because he wants to come home, he isnt worth it.

1. Peter Konz C 6-5/315 Wisconsin– This is assuming the medical concerns are not an issue. Will solidify the center position for the next decade.

I think the draft will end up being more defense heavy than you have it, but love the first 3 picks. I dont think Jones has decided whether he is coming out yet though.

Yeah. My pants got tight reading that. Not much that I didn't like.

Sadly... I don't see it happening.

dbair.. Hatcher signed a 3-year deal.

8/1/2011: Signed a three-year, $6 million contract. The deal included a $2.5 million signing bonus.

Also, my thinking with Campbell is that the Bidwell's are notoriously cheap and having recently shelled out big contracts to Fitzgerald and Kolb, they may not want to spend big on Campbell. Remember, there is no distinction in Franchise Tags between 4-3 and 3-4 DE's. If they slap the Franchise Tag on Campbell they will have to pay him Julius Peppers (2012 base salary $8.9M), Dwight Freeney (2012 base $14.035 M), and Jared Allen (2012 base $11.6M) type money.

I'm not saying they won't try to re-sign him especially before Free Agency starts, but I'm not sure they would be willing to Tag him. If he hits the open market, we have as good a shot as anyone. I really think this is where Jerry being Jerry would be beneficial to us. He really should be able to sell a player on playing in Dallas.

Marcus Spears still playing?

I thought he was either retired or dead.

I honestly don't see us signing 7 players in FA.

Why not? Not all of the guys we'd possibly sign will be big name free agents with big contracts.

Plus you have to count whatever players of our own we resign. I think the number will easily get to 7 or so.

I am talking outside FAs...have we ever brought in that many in one offseason? It was actually 6, but I cannot remember us ever signing that many in one offseason. Rachal, Brooks, and Campbell are not going to come cheaply.

Brooks will be cheaper than Spencer. Rachal has lost his starting job so I don't see him getting as much as Ben Grubbs or Carl Nicks will. Campbell is going to be costly but IMO is worth it.

I think Brooks will get more than Spencer, 3-4 OLBs are a premium position. Interior lineman get paid large now, someone will give him a big chunk of change.

Campbell would be a great add, but as I said before I just dont see the Cards letting him walk. They'll franchise him and try to trade him before that happens.

I'm sure they have the cap space to hold it though. If they think they cant sign him they could just hold him as long as needed till they can trade him.

That said, it is the Cards so I guess you cant put anything stupid past them.
