McCarthy was on record before coming here that he liked Moore, and supposedly McCarthy talked Moore into staying instead of taking one of the other two spts he was offered (one was in college IIRC)

And I'm sure Prescott pined for him too.

I don't believe under any circumstance that McCarthy was forced to keep Moore. He was going to be headed back to NYG for another interview when we got him to stay the night and agreed to hire him. If he thought Moore sucked and was going to be a poor fit or help lose games, McCarthy could have just hopped back on the plane and went to NYG, where they almost assuredly would have hired him.

If things don't make sense, then they're usually not true. MM has been a WCO coach. Always has been. Coaches that get hired do so to implement their system. I mean, they were hired because whatever was being done before the hire was failing. So Shanahan getting hired and implementing something other than a WCO or an offense based on it's principles would make sense? Would Bill Belicheat take another job and keep a 3-4? Parcells did but eventually switched. These coaches have their systems.....

Nobody runs pure "systems" anymore. They're all mixed and matched now on offense and defense.

No offense buddy but lame answer without addressing my point. Coordinators are associated with a system. Sure they might add some nuances but KM is not from MM's offensive philosophy.

I expected this from Dooms....be better.......:duel:

Its not lame if its true.

Its not like McCarthy has not had any ability to have input, as you say he's an offensive guy. It's naive to think that he hasn't made suggestions or adds/deletes to the system as he sees fit.

But nobody runs pure systems of anything anymore on either side of the ball. Teams that supposedly have "3-4" defenses spend the vast majority of their time in 4 man fronts because everybody is playing nickel so much.

I don't think a team in the league uses a pure Bill Walsh type passing, nor does any team use a pure Don Coryell/Ernie Zampese style system. They all incorporate bits and pieces of everything. Almost every team incorporates bits and pieces of RPO plays/schemes now too, and that was never the case before nor is any of that style of offense similar to a WCO or timing based offensive system.

GM Jerry breaking it down for us, Chris Godwin apparently plays defense and can create a turnover and playing a bunch of players because a lot of starters got hurt is a a good thing
