If several other teams were truly interested in Gathers, is he safe on the practice squad or do you have to burn a roster spot on him?

IMO, drafting Gathers in the 6th was less problematic than drafting Smith in the 2nd.

If the Cowboys were paranoid enough to take Gathers in the 6th, they will be paranoid enough to keep him on the 53. Unless he just flat out sucks in camp.

I have no problem taking on projects when the team has (a) depth and (b) quality coaching staff.

As is this team has been littered with project picks over the years and how many have panned out?


I liken it to the 1990s Bengals. Always picking in the top 5 and none of those blue chip talents panned out. Why?? Because of a shit organization. Current Dallas Cowboys is a shit organization. Believe that.

I don't like project picks in the top 4 rounds... after that it doesn't really matter IMO. They're all a long shot anyway.
