are you this retarded?

did they win games with a backup QB with this HC, because I believe that's the original statement somebody made...that we never do

Jason Garrett has been head coach, OC, and assistant HC since 2007.

What's his overall W/L record with back up Qbs during that time?

I looked it up. He's 6-8. Carried largely by that 5-5 run with Kitna in 2010, when a talented team who went 11-5 the year before basically quit on Wade and came back to life and started playing under a new coach.

Now I'm not really faulting Garrett for not "winning" with a back up QB. This is the NFL. Thats a tall order.

But I do fault him for these things:

(1) Hand selecting pure shit back ups. Brad Johnson and Brandon Weeden, specifically.
(2) Not drafting any back up QBs or young prospects. And I know Jerry do what Jerry do in the draft, but Jason needs to have some stones and demand this happen. Been in control of the offense for 8 years and Stephen McGee is it?
(3) Not developing a single young QB prospect. What does Wade Wilson do?
(4) Having putrid game plans and for the most part, having the team/offense look utterly inept when the back up is on the field. Its not that we don't win.... its that we struggle to even compete.

Just this year, look at how the Cardinals won with three QB's already. Look at how good the Eagles looked with a bust at QB most notable for being the "butt fumble". Look at how Jay Gruden, a rookie HC, came into our house and beat us with a completely garbage third string QB.

I mean come on... Garrett was billed as some offensive genius. Princeston smart. Yet he looks baffled, confused, and unable to adjust or show any creativity.

Romo carries this fucking team.

Since 2010 alone he is 5-7. I spent some time last night noting that. I'm quite sure it is worse if you go back to 2007. I'm just too lazy to do it. And, it's dbair, so...

Yds per game, Dallas defense 23rd
Pts per game, Dallas 31st
Opposing QB rating, Dallas 29th
Sacks- Dallas 16th

Did you not see that in like 3-4 of the games I posted we had at least 3 TOs? Did Garrett morph into a DB and INT those passes?

If I had read the thread, I would've seen that iamtdg already owned dbair.

But funny how dbair dismisses those game we won with backups when our opponents gave us 5 & 6 turnovers and wants to credit the backup..... while at the same time shitting on the Eagles beating the Panthers because the Panthers didn't play well. Derp.

Also, if memory serves that McGee win vs the Eagles - let's just ignore that the Eagles played primarily their backups that game, started Kevin Kolb at Qb, had the post season locked up and it was a throwaway game - and OUR OFFENSE generated only 7 points.

Final score was 14-13. Deciding touchdown was scored on defense by Demarcus Ware.

Yep, that Eagles win was a complete joke. Yeah, we had McGee... But they played an entire team of second and third stringers. And we still barely won one of the ugliest NFL games you'll ever see.

That was a game I almost hated winning because it guaranteed Garrett would get the full time job. I remember all the arguments back then from a certain group: "You never ever don't want to win!" Even the game that ensured we got Aikman instead of Tony Mandarich?

Meh. I guess idiot Jerry had probably already decided that anyway.

So are you trying to argue that coaches should have a higher win % with backup QB's?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm trying to say... in some alternate universe where everything is weird for us but normal for you.

Where did I dismiss it? It certainly helped. Just like it helped the Eagles the other night.

That said, you cant totally discount Jon freaking Kitna playing pretty well for us after Garrett took over coaching that team. His numbers that season weren't all that dis-similar from Romo's

Even if you discount that game completely, they still won 4 games with a backup QB. We nearly beat Philly to win the division last yr with the worst defense in franchise history with our backup QB playing (and playing pretty well)

They also should have beaten New Orleans that yr, if not for that RW fumble they would have.
