I actually thought one of his best throws was the one dropped by the TE down the middle early in the game; a rope right between the numbers.
That was the moment I actually said, "now any reasonable debate is over." Then he topped even that throw a few times throughout the game. Especially that ad-libbed TD pass in the back of the end zone.

Yeah....not fond of that pass but it was a TD so credit where credit is/was due. That was a horrific play call. We take the FG in the scenario and make it a 3 possession game (unless the opposing team makes two 2-point conversions).

Called play wasn't there so he salvaged it. Directed his receiver. Delivered the ball. What we gotta see from a legit QB. The decision to eschew the FG certainly is debatable though.

Nope, that was 2 years ago and I still dont like one player getting a huge chunk of the cap because this isn't basketball where 1 or 2 players can carry the team.

However, I love Dak so if anyone has to get paid a ton, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

They're gonna have to hit it out of the park with the draft (& they might have) and win immediately if they have any hope of sniffing a super bowl which if that ever miraculously happens, jeri will promptly fuck it up

The thing these homers never learn is exemplified by Romo - monster contract but still able to keep a team around him, but still shit the bed anyway. They fall in love with stars and think you only need the One.

Meanwhile stats prove what football-centered fans already know. Win-loss record is better when the QB no matter who it is, is far better when that QB has fewer than 30 pass attempts.

So yeah, blowing your cap on one guy ain't gonna buy you a Lombardi.

Dak is on the right path, but he hasn't yet "arrived" - that is, he hasn't shown me the consistency, over a period of time, that he is "the one." So I patiently wait for games to roll by. Maybe in 4 or 5 more games we'll know something.

You guys know me to be vocal in my criticism of Dak. But when the kid plays well, you have to give him his due. He's making the throws, moving the chains and is looking every bit like a top 5 QB and legitimate MVP candidate.

He's made his receivers better, made Dalton Shultz and Blake Jarwin look like Witten 2.0, and is carrying the offense. I mean, Shultz and Jarwin are not world beaters and they've dropped some of Dak's best passes down the middle. Dak has made the OL look better because he's making his reads and getting rid of the ball....accurately. Yes, the D is much improved. Yes, Diggs might be one of the best young DB's in the league. Yes, our draft picks look like homeruns. But all that is meaningless without a QB. Dak's stats are not coming from playing from behind. He's played incredibly well and if his play continues, this team has a real chance. We'll only go as far as the QB takes us.

And I was a guy who thought he'd have to transition back into the game from a mental perspective after such a horrific injury last season. I didn't think he could do it, not because of anything Dak did, but it's just human nature to be concerned about an ankle that you snapped in half less than a year ago. As critical as I've been of Dak and I believe he certainly deserved it, he's upped his game.

schultz on his own tho has looked so good. he has a really good connection with dak but you are right he has a hard time holding onto his balls .

you can even say schultz is an improved blocker but its easier to do everything with more enthusiasm when your team is winning

They seem to have solved the slow start problem. Dak has taken his play to a higher level this season. Guess the Parcells three year rule isnt 100%. Close though.

His three year rule assumes competent coaching lol

I hope Dak gets well soon, over the bye week.

I'm still waiting for Dak to gel. YES, he won the Patriots game in OT. But going into OT is very dicey, if you lose the coin toss and go 2nd.

Dak and the boys should have put the game away in the 4th Qtr.

If we had been playing a playoff caliber team, and gone into OT, we could have easily lost.

So what I'm waiting for is for the Cowboys to play like a playoff team every quarter.

Show me any team that does that right now, besides Arizona and Baltimore.

You might also wake up and realize NE IS a playoff team. They took TB to the wire as well.

You're waiting for Dak to gel? He's concrete already.

And in reality, we should have put the game away by halftime. On paper. But this ain't paper. There's a reason they actually play the games.

Seriously, you still have doubts about Dak? He's easily top 5 in the league. There's no longer ANY question about him.

Dak is playing extremely well taking advantage of the opportunities he's been given. Statistically he simply blows other QB's away, past greats, whomever.

Eye test, he passes clearly. It's taken 6 years, but he has clearly arrived and is dominant. No one short of Tom Brady has played better.

This is the first time this kid has had a defense he can rely on.

My only reservation at his point is about his health. He's getting hurt all the time now. HIs shoulder has impacted his throws, and now it's his calf.

This is Troy Aikman vs Green Bay 1995 regular season with a calf injury-- all hands on deck, PROTECT DAK. Do that, play the defensive game you've always played and he wins another against the Vikings.

Vikings have had the bye week to prepare, so expect a bunch of adjustments, but bottom line you can't stop an offense where the QB is finding the open guy, the OL is blocking the ways ours has, the running backs go two deep, and the receiving targets are elite and unselfish with fantastic role players like Schultz filling in gaps.

Sooner or later the defense will take the ball away, so really your only hope is a referee bias full of phantom calls like against NE or injuries to key players.
