I'm taking exception with the term "genius" as it relates to marketing, he's not, never will be and stating this takes nothing away from his financial and business acumen.

Winning 3 Super Bowls revived the brand that, while tarnished, still had a mass of devotees with pent up demand for winning or who were relishing in their failures, none of which had anything to do with Jones.

Had they not won those 3 Super Bowls, no amount of marketing "genius" could have saved his ass and he would never have gotten his stajum if the team performed the way they have since he ran Jimmy off.

You could also make the case his business acumen is lacking because the team would be even more valuable and make more money if they actually won something but he's fine with this because being the center of attention is more valuable to him than the sacrifices required to actually win.

I'll always maintain the fans are here in spite of Jerry Jones, not because of him. Sure, there are some idiot jones acolytes but he'd be broke if that's whom he had to rely upon and I'd guess a good portion of those people only abide in order to get in his back pocket.

You make your money on the buy and Jerry had the business sense & ability to buy the team, right the financial ship and fix its financial woes but none of that has anything to do with being a so called "marketing genius"

No marketing genius would come in like a bull in a China shop talking out of his ass, firing Landry on a golf course, then a back to back Super Bowl winning head coach, etc, etc...he's done more damage to his personal brand than anyone could possibly imagine

Marketing genius my ass

THIS....thank Jimmy Johnson who had more to do than any marketing prowess. And the fact that stadium lease deals were so one sided in favor of the owners that made Jerry rich. I do give Jerry credit for seeing the financial opportunity in the TV deals and getting other teams to buy in while keeping his brand seperate in apparel sales.
