If I remember correctly didn’t Dak lead the entire league in tight window throws in 2017?

Just click on the links provided in the article you posted and you'll see Dak is #3 in tight window WR's (I said #2 earlier but I was incorrect). What do those stats tell you?

Scott, what do make of Dez being #3 on the WR list? What does that tell you? I mean, if you're using that stat to somehow validate Dak does it also validate Dez?

Good grief. Dez was an all world talent, he didn't need Romo to be a successful WR. Any decent QB would have been able to given him plenty of opportunities.

1.) Dez needed someone to get him the ball, which Dak didn't do. Thus undermining your point about Dak being a talented QB.

I thought the same thing when I read dbair's post. He's undermining his point and he doesn't even see it. Good post.

In the article I posted if you click on the link for QB it lists DAK as #1 not #3

If you click on the link for Tight-window WR it lists DEZ as #3

So those stats tell me that you are not reading them correctly

I corrected myself (from #2 to #3) if that's what you're saying. Or are you saying being #3 on the list makes you a slug and only being #1 matters?

EDIT: Correction made, but you knew what I meant.

dez's body gave out thats why hes still out of the league

dez was hurt during dak's rookie yr but still caught 8 TDs

dez had a slow start to his career but he went off in 2012-2014. injured in 2015. still injured in 2016-17. then out of the league.

dez always relied on his athleticism, and i dont think he needs a super accurate tight window at all.. his stats went down because injuries caught up to him. nothing to do w/ dak.

btw, cooper disappears w/ dak, yes.... but did dak play for the raiders too ? (hint: cooper kinda just does that)

Agree with most of your post Cup. But I'd also add that Dez was a severe head case. That had as much to do with him not getting a better look from other teams, IMO. And to your point about him relying on his athleticism, I'd bet that affected the effort he gave during his rehab. Dez basically Tweeted himself out of the NFL. Idiot.

Because you're posting that link to "prove" Dak was a top notch QB and Dez was washed up, as opposed to Dak having any culpability in Dez's declining stats. In that same article you posted, there's a link to the best tight window WR's and Dez is #3. You can't have it both ways. You use that article to discredit Dez but that same website credits Dez with being the #3 tight window WR.

Based on that article, would you agree that Dez was one of the best WR's because he was #3 on the list? Of course not. No more than I think Prescott is the most accurate QB in the NFL because he's #1 in tight window throws. It's a meaningless "stat" that has way too many variables. And I do find it funny how all the Dak homers have to dig up all these stats to disprove what they see with their own eyes.

First of all, I never said word one about Dez. I never even entered that conversation and I never disputed anything about what you guys were arguing about on Dez. As far as Dez goes you all can argue about him all you want. I couldn’t care less about him. What I will say is he was a top receiver in the league, until he wasn’t. Gotta get dat money yo!

What I did say was that Dak lead the league in tight window throws in 2017. Then I posted the proof

In 2017 he was
#1 in tight window throws
#1 in completion percentage
#1 in passer rating

That sounds like a pretty accurate passer to me

Has he kept up those numbers since? No

But he has improved this season over last now that the wide receiver by committee bullshit is over and that Helen Moore is no longer his QB coach and Kitna is. Kitna seems to have really helped Dak’s development

Dak was number 1 in a number of categories that season

Not bad for the worst QB in the league according to you

And as for Dez, I wasn’t part of that argument

He fractured his foot in 2015 and his knee in 2016. Both injuries occurred early the season and he could never get fully healthy. That's not age or wear and tear.

Of course Beasley would have his best season under Prescott. Prescott was a dink and dunk passer and the slot receiver would be the biggest beneficiary of his style of play.

And are you really comparing Gallup's number to Dez's numbers in 2016 when Dez was injured as some sort of proof to validate your point?

dbair: Hey guys.....Dak's worse numbers still blew away Brady's numbers in 2008!!!
Dodger: Uh, Brady was injured in 2008 and lost for the season.......
dbair: Yeah, but Dez still had better stats even in his worst year!!!

And Dak sucked in 2017.

The problem with these useless Prescott stats is that it seems like I'm defending Dez Bryant. I'm not. He was a headcase and we couldn't have him ranting and raving with a young QB. But these tight window stats are flawed unless you believe Dez was the 3rd best WR or tight window WR based on the same criteria.

Dumbass gonna dumbass

You interjected the link as we were discussing Romo, Dez, Dak so I'd assume that's wht you were responding to at that point of the conversation. And I wouldn't even call Dez a top receiver. He disappeared in stretches and was easily taken out of games because he was a headcase.

What I did say was that Dak lead the league in tight window throws in 2017. Then I posted the proof

#1 in tight window throws
#1 in completion percentage
#1 in passer rating

And Dez was #3 in the WR category. So what? Do I think Dez was a top 5 WR? Absolutely not, any more than I would think Dak was the #1 QB because of such a useless stat with so many variables.

Get rid of Dak, Garrett, Cooper, and anyone else that wants a new contract. This team needs an enema. Please for God's sake Jerry do the right thing and fire them all then fire yourself and go help your wife pick out paintings for the museum that is teh AT&T Stadium. The House that everyone wins at but the Cowboys and their fans.

I still would like to see what improvements Prescott can make with a really quality HC and staff, but I will also admit that there's no way I would sign him to a multi year, break the bank type deal right now either. I would force him to play on the franchise tag next yr and if he refuses or threatens to hold out, strongly consider trading him for as much as we can get.

I was more than willing to give him a pass on the Patriots game due to the weather, but he responded after that with really poor games vs Buffalo, Chicago and then again yesterday.

Even if they don't move on from him (which I don't think they would) I would definitely go into the draft thinking about backup QB options and a hedge against Prescott wanting way too much money or not improving enough to warrant a new long term deal.

They won't move on from Dak because Jerry's goal is to make money. He doesn't think he can sustain a year where a rookie QB gets broken in. And that's tough anyway knowing that he may never pan out. We've taken the easy way out with regards to a franchise QB. We let "luck" blind us to the fact that you need good coaching an eye for talent. We have neither.

And i do agree with David that we need to keep focusing on drafting QB's and trying to develop them. None of this UFA BS. Mike White never had a shot here. And it could be that he didn't have the mental make-up to be an NFL QB. But the issue is that we have no one who knows what that make-up is.

The problem now becomes the excuses Dak has for most issues Jeruh brings up during contract negotiations.

Jeruh -What about your accuracy issues Dak?

Dak - what do you want from me? We lead the entire league in dropped passes. And even with that I still lead the league in passing yards. I did my job bossman! The WR let me down

Jeruh - What about the PHI game we needed to win to make the playoffs?

Dak - I had a sprained AC Joint. I did the best I could bossman

Jeruh - why didn’t you win more games?

Dak - it was the coaching, I did my part, the coaching staff let me drown bossman. I have more wins than any other QB since I came into the league besides Brady. We would have more wins too if we had a different HC. Fire Garrett, he’s what’s holding this team back

Dak’s agent - show me the moneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey

Jeruh - (grabs his checkbook) how many zeros was that again??

In the end, Jeruh is going to pay him top dollar

I’m too lazy to look it up. Did mike White even make another team and/or make it into a game as the back up this season?

Dak took a gamble and lost IMO. We had a pretty generous offer on the table and HE decided to table that and play out his contract year. When you lose a gamble there's gotta be consequences. That and with a new HC coming in - does that new guy even want Dak? How much are we willing to saddle a new guy with, on top of all the baggage Jerruh as GM brings? The baggage of the whole front office essentially being either Jonses or Jones buddies? The baggage of assistants you like and want to keep just because. The baggage of what I see is a possibly ruined QB now. To me if you're gonna let Garrett walk you need to go whole hog and let the whole fucking thing walk from the HC all the way down to the water boys and girls, and some of the players too. The check collectors simply gotta go. It needs to be what the new HC wants, not people we as a company love and would feel bad about losing or not paying.

We all know that is what should happen

But we all also know that it won’t happen

Jeruh will hopefully toss every single coach out on his ass and let the new guy go full Jimmy and bring in whoever he wants

But Jeruh honestly believes he has a SB winning team as it stands minus the coaches.

Plus he has one foot in the grave and doesn’t have the time to go into a full on rebuild situation right now and even more importantly deal with the dreaded QB search that can take years and sometimes decades to resolve. Jeruh would never ditch the team he has assembled and start over. That would prove him wrong. That ain’t gonna happen

We will all be lucky to get a new coach that’s not a complete lap dog.

It’s going to take Jeruh’s death to make wholesale changes around the Star
