The years where he doesn't have a 1st and tries to make a splash in the 2nd terrify me.

Quincy Carter, Kavika Pittman, Dwayne Goodrich....

This is why the LaFleur pick was so bad IMO. Jerry got manipulated by a rumor by the Eagles were going to move up so he panicked and grabbed LaFleur. Pathetic and gullible.

Once Gonzalez went off the board, Jerry had to have someone to replace the recently retired Novacek. And since Troy personally worked out LaFleur and gave him his seal of approval ...

another Aikman story... but he said going into the draft and after talking to Jerry, Troy fully expected Tony Gonzales to be a Cowboy.

Allen, Godfrey, and Pittman were good. Page was adequate. The rest sucked ass.

So glad we let Godfrey get away because he was too expensive then the next year we signed Dexter Coakley for the exact same amount.

Pittman was absolutely horrible. Don't know who you are thinking of. He was a guy most had rated as a middle rounder at best, and we picked him early in the 2nd. What made that pick even more horrendous is we passed on Tony Brackens and took this bum instead. We had Brackens rated as a top-15 pick that yr, and got stupid. To make matters worse, the player we picked with the extra pick we gained was Clay Shiver in the 3rd rd, who was absolutely awful as well.

Overlooked Adams

Gurode and Fasano were good, not great. I'd take Kavika over both of them.

Never was a fan of Gurode. Too dumb to make line calls or snap the ball correctly in the shotgun.

You really have to quit the dope smoking.

That really isn't why we picked him. Everyone knew the two players they wanted in the first round that year were either Tony Gonzalez or David LaFleur. The TE position was a mess with Novacek's early retirement and the suckage of Eric Bjornscrub

Everybody and their mother had LaFleur rated as a solid first round pick. It wasn't like we drafted a guy rated as a 6th rounder in the first like some of you seem to think.

Pittman was a soild, high motor player for us. If he was that bad why did Denver give him that huge contract?

Yeah the Chiefs moved up a ways to get him, kinda surprised a lot of people. Once that happened LaFleur was the fallback option.

A solid high motor player that never made a fucking play...dude Pittman was a horrible player here

You must be confusing him with Tony Tolbert or something because Pittman was a massive bust

Shiver was terrible, but I argue still more productive than Pittman.

Nope, I saw him make plenty of plays. Then he got like a $35 mil contract from Denver so I wasn't the only one who saw it.

I still remember fucking Bobby Bowden saying Shiver was the best C he'd ever coached and that he'd be a sure fire probowler...Shiver was the king of getting bitch slapped into the backfield on run downs...

Still cant believe we fucked up not taking Brackens

Apples and oranges. You don't think that the Eagles just manipulated Jerry and he could have waited. This is about a rather consistent flaw Jerry has of giving up players to gamble on the messiah traits of one player.

It's not about whether LaFleur was a late round pick. It's more about Jerry handling the Cowboys draft with panicky hands and little wisdom.
