Lovie's old team plays that scheme pretty well. I'm sure there are others doing it too. And plenty of teams use parts of it.

the reality is if mcray/frampton are starting at safety it probably wont really matter.

your buddy church could excel in this scheme though, he can hit and move in small areas pretty well.

maybe he is the john lynch in this system

they wont be...not guessing

how many coaches around the league are over 70? is there an easy place to find this.

For some reason i thought tom moore was in his late 60s when the colts hired him but he was only 60.

It's sad but true that people don't get better at what they do as they age, be it scientists, musicians, lawyers, or football coaches. Oh, and general managing, but that much is obvious.

damn jim johnson was only 68 when he died.

Possible silver lining Kiffin Jerry Brown's us sometime around Thanksgiving and Eberflus rides the resulting emotional tide and takes the league by storm.

yea but besides him.

usually guys get to this age and they are like consultants.

holmgren was viewed as too old.

if holmgren and kiffin were in line buying beer, next to kiffin they would ID holmgren.

aaIRVING, Texas – Just like the Texas weather, things at Valley Ranch have a way of changing dramatically in a matter of minutes.

So nothing is ever official until … it’s official and even that can change quickly.

But as we stand here in the middle of Thursday, just two days after the firing of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, it appears the Cowboys have their next defensive boss in sights.

And that would be Monte Kiffin, a longtime defensive coordinator for the Buccaneers who also coached recently for his son Lane Kiffin at Southern Cal.

According to multiple sources both inside and outside of Valley Ranch, Kiffin met with Cowboys’ owner/GM Jerry Jones on Thursday and could be the next defensive coordinator, in a move that might be announced as early as Thursday, or perhaps Friday.

Kiffin, who has never been a head coach, has coached for 46 seasons, including 25 in the NFL, most notably a 13-year run in Tampa Bay.

This move would also signal a philosophical change to a 4-3 scheme. The Cowboys have run a 3-4 since 2005.

The only problem is, how is moving to a Tampa 2 zone going to make Mo Claiborne and Brandon Carr play better in zone coverage?
