LANSING — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has signed laws to block welfare recipients from withdrawing their taxpayer-provided cash from ATMs in liquor stores, horse tracks and strip clubs.

The laws signed Wednesday are similar to a state law enacted last year for casino ATMs.

Under federal law, states that don’t restrict welfare recipients’ ability to conduct electronic transfers at liquor stores, casinos or adult entertainment establishments could lose up to 5 percent of their federal welfare funding.

The six bills were sponsored by Republican Sen. Rick Jones of Grand Ledge along with Republican Reps. Margaret O’Brien of Portage and Dale Zorn of Ida.

They take advantage of the system and everyone knows about it but our stupid government. I'm so glad I'm going to work tomorrow and getting money taken out of my check so other people don't have to work like I do.

The great state of Kansas passed the three strike rule this year. They are now testing welfare morons for drugs. The first two infractions result in counseling and job training and the third results in a loss of all state aid. I expect many of the deadbeats will be moving to Missouri soon.

We had a glitch in our system in two small towns where anyone with an EBT card could purchase as much food as they wanted at Wal Mart. Stores were cleared out and when the people running the EBT system finally caught on, those EBT recipients left buggies and buggies full of food all down aisles. A lot of them are getting cut off permanently. I guess they'll have to actually work now to buy their own food or something.

I read that story. Here is the follow up.

Louisiana Suspends EBT Cards for Food Stamp Cheats

The Advocate reports that the Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal's office will cancel food stamp benefits for anyone who participated in a fraud and shopping spree catalyzed by an EBT malfunction.

More than 12,000 people were sent an insufficient funds notice when the problem with the EBT cards was fixed on Oct. 12; those who transgressed may lose their EBT cards for a year.

Suzy Sonnier, the secretary of state at the Department of Children and Family Services, released a statement saying: "We must protect the program for those who receive and use their benefits appropriately according to the law. We are looking at each case individually, addressing those recipients who are suspected of misrepresenting their eligibility for benefits or defrauding the system."

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said, “It was worse than any Black Friday.”

Stores were emptied of their merchandise. Walmart spokeswoman Kayla Whaling said Walmart decided to let the crowds go ahead and buy rather than cut them off. Once the system was fixed, it became clear how much fraud there was; one woman had an EBT card with a balance of 49 cents but still had $700 worth of goods in her shopping cart.

On October 11-12, at least 17 states experienced problems with their EBT card systems. In Springhill and Mansfield, Louisiana, cards indicated they had no spending limits, so EBT holders went wild with purchases.

The stores that were cheated are bound to come up with the cash they lost, which may prompt them to join local prosecutors to bring charges against the fraudsters.

The Advocate reported that violators will receive a letter stating their EBT cards have been canceled along with information as to how to appeal their cases. They may lose their EBT cards forever.

Whenever this happens stores are told to allow each person $50 and that's it so Wal Mart has to come up with the money for this one.

Bobby Jindal is an excellent governor, by the way. I'm sure he'll be a presidential cannidate in 2018.

Are you looking at some other graph?

He signed it in August and unemployment jumped. There are also many other economic factors at play, but simple math will tell you paying more to each employee from a set amount of money will lead to some of them having to lose their job.
