There a Raider blog that has all sorts of information on how Routt played this last year. Videos from every game, of supposedly all the passess attempted in his direction, however there are no videos of the penalties.
I don't know how he got to that 41.7% completion mark but if the plays that I saw in some of those videos were included, completion percentage is only moderately useful at best.
There were plays where the QB is flushed and DELIBERATELY threw it at the feet of the receiver to kill the play.
Here's the blog. It's actually a VERY good collection of information but it's a little forgiving in trying to say that Routt didn't have a bad season.

Just watch the Week 1 clip. Here are the accompanying play descriptions.
Slot right against Eddie Royal. 4 yard jerk route. Pass tipped at the line of scrimmage incomplete
Pass tipped and falls short and the credit goes to Routt?
Slot right against Brandon Lloyd. Deep Corner route. 42 yard pass broken up by Routt.
Didn't get his head around, wasn't making a play on the ball at all and made contact before the ball gets there. That's a fucking penalty. I can't believe Dilfer called it good coverage. If he turns around to make a play on the ball, then we can talk good coverage but when you are beaten, do not turn and look AND then make contact before the ball is there it's a penalty 99% of the time.
Wide left against Eddie Royal in motion. 4 yard slat. Dropped pass.
Dropped. I'm assuming this is counted by the bean counters but in no way it is indicative of the DBs play.
***Wide left against Brandon Lloyd. 5 yard slant. Short throw. Incomplete.
Piss poor throw in the ground, behind the WR.
Wide Left against Eddie Royal. 10 yard out. Thrown away. Incomplete
Thrown out of bounds to who the fuck knows.
Wide Left against Eddie Royal in motion. Drops into zone. 15 yard out. Complete.
The only completion on him all day. QB went 1/6 against Routt.
1 completion however 5 of the incompletions came on drops, shit throws, throws OB, tipped at the LOS and on a play that should have been pass interference.
Don't get me wrong, the scales used to measure DBs across the league is the same. In theory it should all equal itself out and completion percentage can probably be used because it's unlikely, not impossible however, that a player benefit from the offense fucking up an abnormal amount of times.
But there is still a chance that a guy's completion percentage be heavily skewed by offensive ineptitude.
I'm going to have to take a look at the other clips. Just need some time that I can waste sitting around watching it. Too busy right now.
