Marinelli clearly wants Hatcher here. Broaddus even tweeted the other day the team favored Hatcher over a player like Melton.

Resigning Hatcher isn't really bad. Resigning Hatcher to a ridiculously large contract would be. If they use the Ware space to sign Hatcher (or a Melton type) and a couple other starters on defense, that's fine.

That said, the offense and special teams don't need a rebuild. The defense does.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Broncos have emerged as the favorites to sign free agent DE DeMarcus Ware.
It's worth noting Schefter reported the Seahawks had "emerged as the favorites" to sign Michael Bennett on Monday -- before signing Michael Bennett on Monday. So there's surely substance here. Denver always seemed like a strong landing spot for free agent Jared Allen, but Ware has more juice left in the tank and would form one of the NFL's most imposing pass-rush duos with Von Miller.
