Is what happens Romo's fault? A lot of times yes. He tries for a lot of plays he shouldn't. Sometimes it works and it's amazing. Other times it doesn't and we have discussions like this.
But sometimes he's just a guy doing his job. In the situation against the Jets where he fumbled by the goal line, I'm willing to bet quite a few well respected NFL quarterbacks would have tried the exact same thing Romo did in that exact same instance. And if they had fumbled after getting hit like Romo did, well, most don't have the "reputation" that he does, so not much would have been said. I've heard quite a few talking heads complain that it was a unnecessary play since Dallas didn't have to have a touchdown there. True, but if that is the arguement why didn't Garrett call another running play and take the risk out of Romo's hands?
Bottom line, he does the best he can with what he has in front of him. Does he drive me nuts sometimes? Yes, to the point that I want to pound the ground, throw the remote and pull my hair out (and there's not much to yank there). But he's our quarterback, and a damn good one compared to what some other teams have. Given where we'd be without him, I'll take my chances with Romo, craziness and all.
