Racial profiling is a form of discrimination. You cannot assume guilt based on race alone, no matter the circumstances. Zimmerman does not have to be a racist to exhibit racist behavior just like Bob doesn't have to be a woman to act like a bitch.

I agree with your theory but I believe profiling is a necessary tool that should be used in police work. If there are a group of young Asian males spray painting subway cars in a particular area than I would be suspicious of a young Asian male walking in an area where subway cars are.

The problem here is that Zimmerman was more than just suspicious of Trayvon. He took action on nothing but those suspicions and Trayvon died because of it. You can be suspicious of the Asian kid but so long as he is not breaking the law there is nothing you can do about him being there.

The fact of the matter is police do identify perpetrators by their race. But it's only one means of identifying someone. If the APB says they are looking for a black man, then police will be on the lookout for a black man. When they see one, then they will take other steps to determine if the person meets the description of the person at large. And the key is, that's POLICE work.

Zimmerman's not a police officer, no matter how badly he wanted to be one. He was mad that "they always get away," and took the law into his own hands. That's precisely why the police dispatch told him not to follow Martin. He is not trained in dealing with these situations, or in conducting an "investigation," and things went badly for him. A kid lost his life because of his actions.

You guys trying to justify his actions because there had been break-ins in the neighborhood are ignoring the bigger picture.

When a kid is walking home don't chase him down when you're a dipshit with a gun.

One person was walking home, the other was sitting in their car and following people IN THE RAIN with a gun . Who's the shady one?

No Trayvon is dead because instead of calling the police himself about someone following him, he choose to attack someone that he didn't know was armed or not. Zimmerman followed him, because the police always showed up to late and he'd watched neighbor after neighbor either leave the community or become shut ins. It's tragic I'm sure, but it sure as fuck isn't 2nd degree murder.

Was he waving said gun? Did he not do everything in his power to call the police and try to make sure the kid didn't get out of sight so he wouldn't lose again after all the times they'd gotten away due to the police being ineffectual? In all previous times?
