Trade deadline is 8 days away.

We need all 6 of our active posters to participate in this poll!

Two part question. If you answer yes, what position do you think we address?

RB, WR, TE, CB, LB all seem like legitimate possibilities.

I voted yes because even though many of the deals were fairly minor, the Cowboys have been fairly active at the trade deadline recently (have made at least one deal in 5 of last 6 yrs according to this trade deadline video I just watched).

I also read a blurb that currently, the Cowboys RB's rank last in the NFL in broken tackles. Now some of that is because the run blocking has not been overly great I'm sure, but still, last is bad. Bigger, stronger RB could help with redzone woes potentially as well.

Jourdan Lewis has not looked very good in either of the last two games and is coming off a major injury, the fact he is even playing is pretty remarkable, but we are an injury to one of the starters away from a complete disaster at CB now. As good as Bland has been, he has also gotten a little lucky on some of these plays he got beaten badly on in that the QB made poor throws. He's a sensational 3rd CB and a solid starter, but CB could be helped.

We need to see what Rashan Evans can do (perhaps will be active this week) although Marquese Bell is coming off the best game of his career. Damone Clark has been ok but he is short on impact plays (no sacks, only 1.5 TFL, no passes defensed and no forced fumbles). LB could be a genuine need unless they plan on Parsons getting more pure LB snaps.

Terrence Steele has been arguably the worst starting RT in the league and clearly doesn't look recovered from the ACL yet. The problem is the Cowboys just gave him a ridiculous contract (which they didnt need to do now anyway) so they are kind of stuck there. They arnt going to bench him and seem content to just try and ride out his struggles.

WR and TE are both interesting. Gallup has not been good, Tolbert had a great camp and preseason but they don't seem confident enough in him yet to take snaps away from Gallup. Cooks has been ok (and he's been hurt some too) but they could use an obvious upgrade opp Lamb. If they could move Gallup as part of a deal to get a more capable #2 guy, they would be wise to consider it.

Love Ferguson and what he has done, but Schoon hasn't panned out yet and is still recovering from an offseason injury he had. He's been a good blocker, but they could potentially look at another #2 TE (especially a guy that could help in the redzone) at least for this season.

Eagles made a pretty solid move today. Byard is far from his "all-pro" days but he's still a qality starter and is definitely an improvement over anything Philly had. He's also never missed a NFL game.

They definitely don't prescribe to the "we like our guys" philosophy that Jerry and Spawn have been married to for three decades now.

Another thing that shouldn't be discounted about the Eagles move, is the timing of it.

They got him this week, so he has basically two full weeks to prepare for the game against us on 10/29.

Meanwhile, we got a glimpse of all this team's issues in games vs Cards, Niners and Chargers and waltzed into the bye week. Instead of making a savvy move or two during the bye week we did nothing (and doesnt seem like anything is imminent this week either)

Even if we do make a trade next week at the deadline, the new player would only have a couple practices to get ready for the huge game vs Philly the following Sunday.

Yes to making a trade. It'll be a receiver or corner, but not anyone that's going to make anyone other than Jerry stand up and make some noise.

Jerry: "hello"

Chiefs: "hey Jerry, we're interested in giving you Patrick Mahomes, it's his dream to go back to Texas. Now we'd be without a QB so all we want in return is Prescott"

Jerry: "......................................."

Chiefs: "he hung up.....I wonder why he hung up?"

On the one hand, they had to watch those games against SF and AZ (and even the Chargers) and know they've got two or three fairly bad flaws and if they want to compete for a championship, they need to do something other than add camp fodder type players. So in that sense, Jerry says the right thing.

On the other hand, do we really think with this football operation and environment that adding one or two really good players is going to make THAT much difference? In the end all they would probably be doing is sacrificing draft capital and potentially a player or two here to get better on paper, when the end result wouldn't change.

That said, I'd almost bet $100 bucks that says Jones just put that out there so fans would have false hope that he and Spawn were actually TRYING to do something, when all along they fully intend to do nothing and they'll say "well we made calls but couldnt get a deal together"

"we belong in the upper echelon conversation"

Uh, no you don't you fucktard. You had a chance to prove that to the team that ended your season two years in a row, and instead of getting more competitive against them your team folded like a cheap tent and got beatdown worse than any team San Fran played all year.

There had been some murmurs that the Cowboys possibly had or were having discussions with the Cardinals about TE Zach Ertz, but this news probably shuts that down. Apparently Ertz injured a quad muscle and is going on IR and the Cards brought up a practice sqaudder to replace him.

Jones is a horrible general manager, he is the sole reason why the Cowboy's haven't been/ won a Championship in nearly 30 years. Before Jones, the longest the Cowboys have gone between winning championship was 11 years, he has almost tripled that and he's all smiles about it. He wouldn't know real talent if it shit down his throat.

Probably BS because it's Fisher, but he claims we are looking for DB and LB help and offensive help was not out of the question either.

By the way, watching this is painful. Fisher has turned into a total clown.
