At WR we lost Roy and Hurd and gained a rookie. How is this better?

Hurd was no factor at WR, so he isnt a loss. ST might feel some sting from that. RW had to go. I dont see where replacing 30-40 receptions is going to be all that difficult. 3rd WR is hardly critical to whether a team has an offense that is difficult to stop, and this one will be. If we didnt have the other skill guys we had, it'd be more of a concern. Plus Romo is really, really good.

At RB we lost Barber and gained an injured rookie. How is this better?

Seriously? Barber was awful last yr...Murray has eons more ability than he has at this stage.

At QB we are status quo with an aging backup. How is this better?

Status quo with Kitna is fine, he's universally regarded as one of the best backups in football. And McGee looks quite a bit better as well.

At OL are right side is arguable weaker than last year. How is this better?

Not really. Colombo was one of the worst starting OL in football last yr (I believe 3rd worst among tackles) and looked even wrse than that at times. Tyron Smith will certainly have some struggles, but overall there's no way he can be worse than Colombo was. Too talented. As for Holland, everytime he gets on the field he plays well, his issue is he gets hurt and then goes back to the bench. There's also the possibility we bring someone else in.
At FB/TE we are status quo. How is this better?

Witten is the best in football...Bennett is a really good 2nd TE and seems to have really matured, John Phillips is back after missing all last yr...they drafted Shaun Chapas, who will be a huge upgrade over Gronkowsli. Not sure how thats status quo

At S we are still up in the air, but we can't get much worse than last year.

Two new safeties will be starting opening day, thats an improvement regardless of who it is.

At K I hope we are better.

I would think one way or another we will be better. Buehler will either gain consistency and win the job, which would be great. Or the rookie will beat him out because he is more consistent. Either way, it will be better.

How did we improve? The guys we brought in will be better than Williams and Hurd? lol

Yeah, and if we kept Barber around you would be singing his praises instead. Barber is gone because he was over-paid, not because he was awful last year. Murray will have to get on the field before he can prove himself.

Status quo with Kitna is fine, he's universally regarded as one of the best backups in football. And McGee looks quite a bit better as well.

How is this better? Our 3rd string is progressing? That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Not really. Colombo was one of the worst starting OL in football last yr (I believe 3rd worst among tackles) and looked even wrse than that at times. Holland is a backup. He played well as a backup. When he gets on the field as a starter he will not be the same player. Tyron Smith should be better that Colombo, but replacing the entire right side and putting him next to an inferior G will not help him any. Right now our oline is worse than it was last year, which is scary.

Witten is the best in football...Bennett is a really good 2nd TE and seems to have really matured, John Phillips is back after missing all last yr...they drafted Shaun Chapas, who will be a huge upgrade over Gronkowsli. Not sure how thats status quo

So I'm supposed to accept your opinion of Chapas? We essentially have the same personnel as last year, that is status quo.

Two new safeties will be starting opening day, thats an improvement regardless of who it is.

Where are they and who are they? If you want to know what a person is thinking you should watch how they act instead of listen to what they say. Right now we have done nothing to fix the safety position and as each day passes the position only gets worse.

I would think one way or another we will be better. Buehler will either gain consistency and win the job, which would be great. Or the rookie will beat him out because he is more consistent. Either way, it will be better.

Buehler is done. Hopefully the rookie has a better rookie season than the 3rd year kicker.

Cythim,

It's a lost cause my friend. Some fans just want to see what they want to see, no matter how delusional it may be. I want Dallas to succeed as much as the next fan does. But, let's get real here. This team is not better than last season. And last season they weren't that good either. Or, the year before.

Cythim,

The roster is not complete yet, we havent had a single practice with our whole team and we added youth and ability at rb and rt.
we added competition at kicker and FB.

I have no idea what the season holds but the way TC is being run is a benefit, and the youth that has been brought in which is unkown at this time I would have to imagine is a benefit.

I do think without question we have a weakness at safety and right guard. Every team has a weakness or two. Its up to the staff to limit the exposure of those weaknesses.

I really dont know how anyone could be down on the team right now unless you are just a half empty guy all the time or are trying to agitate people. In either case that is fine nothing said will change your mind.

Hopefully all this competition and spirited practice helps guys like Sean lee, jenkins, anthony spencer, josh brent.....I those guys play well we will have depth and role players providing an impact. If they struggle like last year we will struggle without question.

No, No, not saying that. LIke I stated, I am hoping for the best. And I hope I am dead wrong. Just getting sick of the same old same old with this team.

Sure, the roster isn't full yet or anything like that. That is why this thread is called "Early Roster Prediction". I just don't like what I see in this prediction.
