Saddest part of all is the "least shitty" option really isn't that obvious. They're both entirely unfit for the job.

Not sure I agree with this part. What makes someone fit for the job? A career politician? A community organizer? A peanut farmer from Georgia? A former actor from California? An oilman and former MLB team owner? A career politician from Arkansas who couldn't even win his own state and needed a third party to spit the Republican ticket to win? A former first lady who had no business being Senator in NY and didn't even fucking live there?

I see the warts. But I'm also sick and tired of these politicians who are running for their own personal gain and power. The Republican party was elected the majority in the Congress and Senate and they're fucking impotent. People are just sick of these scrubs.

Yes, Trump has warts. But him being a non-politician is appealing for a lot of people.Yes, he's rich but more people relate to him as an "average" man who speaks his mind and doesn't fall at the alter of political correctness.

Cant believe I supported Ted Cruz at the beginning of this process.

Really a disgrace what he did last night. I hope Texas residents "vote their conscience" next time Lyin Ted is up for re-election. I hope his political career is ruined.

Ted Cruz had a chance last night to rally the party and be a legitimate candidate in the future. He failed miserably and committed what I believe is political suicide. He promoted his own self interest ahead of the people. He'd like to see Trump lose, thus further destroying and degrading the country, to further his political aspirations in 4 years.

The problem with Cruz is people didn't trust him. I thought he was a preachy sounding snake oil salesman. He could have used last night's platform to bring the party together and be a leader and a stalwart in the party. Instead, he was all about him but, even worse, he completely miscalculated the people's will and anger at the current state of the country and the Republican Party in general. Yes, he won some states in the primaries. But he was willing to toss out the majority of Republican voters and disregarded their vote. The people booed him off the stage and he deserved it. He's done.

And don't even get me on Kasich. He's a fucking bum too. These scrubs completely misread the tea leaves and bums like Jeb Bush, Cruz and Kasich just solified themselves as part of the establishment who are only concerned with their own power than the country.

The Bush's, and McCain, and Romeny, even Kasich are acting like spoiled little brats taking their ball and going home. I think its great. Shake things up. My only concern is maybe things wont get a big enough shake up.

What if the folks who run the Department of Political Justice recently were told that the republic would suffer if Hillary Clinton were indicted for espionage because Donald Trump might succeed Barack Obama in the presidency? What if espionage is the failure to safeguard state secrets and the evidence that Clinton failed to safeguard them is unambiguous and overwhelming?

What if President Obama never really liked his former rival whom he appointed as his secretary of state? What if he had no real interest in seeing her succeed him because he and his wife simply could never trust her?

What if, when Clinton suggested to the president that the U.S. wage a secret undeclared war against Libya, the president went along with it as a no-lose proposition? What if he assumed that if her secret war succeeded he’d get the credit and if her secret war failed she would get the blame?

What if the means of fighting the secret war consisted of employing intelligence assets rather than the U.S. military? What if Clinton concocted that idea because the use of the military requires a public reporting to the entire Congress but the use of intelligence assets requires only a secret reporting to a dozen members of Congress?

What if Clinton expanded her war by permitting American and foreign arms dealers to bypass the NATO arms embargo on Libya by selling heavy-duty, military-grade arms directly to militias in Libya? What if this was Clinton’s dream scenario -- an apparent civil war in Libya in which the victorious side was secretly armed by the U.S., with democracy brought to the country and Clinton the architect of it all?

What if the CIA warned Clinton that this would backfire? What if the CIA told her that she was arming not pro-Western militias but anti-American terrorist groups? What if she rejected all that advice? What if providing material assistance to terrorist groups is a felony? What if the Department of Political Justice actually obtained an indictment of an American arms dealer for going along with Clinton’s schemes?

What if Clinton’s secret war in Libya was a disaster? What if she succeeded in toppling the Libyan leader, Col. Moammar Gadhafi, only to have him replaced by feuding warlords who control anti-Western terrorist groups that not only failed to produce democracy but instead produced destruction, chaos, terror, torture and death?

What if Clinton managed her Libyan disaster using a non-secure email system even though she regularly sent and received state secrets? What if she sent many emails containing state secrets about her Libyan war to her friend Sid Blumenthal? What if Blumenthal had been turned down for a State Department job by the president himself?

What if Blumenthal did not have a government security clearance to receive lawfully any state secrets? What if Clinton knew that? What if the FBI found that Blumenthal’s emails had been hacked by intelligence services of foreign governments that are hostile to America?

What if there were terrible secrets that Clinton wanted to keep from the public and for that reason she used private servers and non-government-issued mobile devices? What if those terrible secrets involved her enabling the unlawful behavior of her husband and his shoddy, unlawful foundation? What if Mrs. Clinton made decisions as secretary of state that were intended to enrich her husband and herself and she needed to keep emails about those decisions away from the public?

What if the president recognized all this and authorized the FBI to conduct criminal investigations of Mrs. Clinton?

What if, after the ascendancy of Donald Trump in the Republican presidential primaries, the president warmed up to his former rival? What if Trump so got under the president’s skin that it drove him to embrace Clinton as his chosen successor and as the one Democrat who could prevent a Trump presidency?

What if the president sent word to the Department of Political Justice to exonerate Clinton no matter what evidence was found against her? What if, in response to that political interference, the FBI investigation of her failure to safeguard state secrets and her corruption took irregular turns?

What if FBI management began to intimidate FBI agents who had the goods on her? What if FBI management forced agents to sign highly irregular agreements governing what the agents can tell anyone when it comes to what they learned about Clinton?

What if the Department of Political Justice never subpoenaed anything from Clinton? What if it never convened a grand jury to seek and hear evidence against her? What if the FBI requires a grand jury to subpoena documents and tangible things? What if it is highly irregular for a major FBI criminal investigation to be undertaken without a grand jury?

What if the attorney general was involved in a publicity stunt with Clinton’s husband and then used that stunt as an excuse to remove herself and her top aides from making decisions in the case? What if this was a sham, done so as to make it appear that FBI professionals -- rather than someone politically motivated, such as the president or the attorney general -- were calling the shots in the case?

What if Hillary Clinton has engaged in espionage and public corruption and FBI agents know that she has? What if they have evidence to prove it but they could not present anything to a grand jury because President Obama wants Clinton, and not Donald Trump, to succeed him in office? What if this blatant political interference with a criminal investigation is itself a crime? What if, midstream in this criminal investigation, the fix was put in?

What do we do about it?

Initially last night I didnt see the big deal about what Cruz said. I just took it as him speaking in a general sense and was man enough to show up when the others wouldnt. But as he comments on it this morning he is making himself look bad. I think ultimately this will help Trump as he can just continue to show himself as being differnet than the rest of the typical politicians.

Kasich could have had the most influential VP position in history if what was reported is true. He could have helped Trump win Ohio and most likely been on the winning ticket. And then if he and Trump had gone on to be a successful team he could have run for the Presidency after Trump served his terms and carried it forward. He would have been n a great position. Instead, like Cruz he showed how he's only in it for himself and is hoping he can run again in 4 years.

I think all of these whiny pouting babies will have this stuff backfire and they will be done and nothing but a memory.

This is probably what we'll get from here on out though; two horrible options and fucked no matter the outcome. At least until people start demanding more from the two parties. Anyone who actually wants to do something for their country should just stay the fuck home on election day. Until both parties can no longer rely on their mindless drones shuffling into the voting booth and making the least shitty choice, shitty choices is all we'll get.

To be entirely honest, I hope one of the parties collapses and I really don't care which one does it. As soon as one party is forced to actually step the fuck up and present a candidate with real appeal, the other will have to do the same or else they'll get blown out.

The more I think about it, the more I think staying at home is a losers tact. There are probably tens of millions of people who are dissatisifed with the two primary parties' candidates. That's enough people to have a real impact. If they would show up and vote for one of the other two candidates, at the very least that's going to make noise in the election.

Voters have to speak up... you don't like the candidates, then tell them. Tell the duopoly that the candidates they've nominated are unacceptable. If you don't, nothing is going to change with either party. They're going to keep driving towards the fringes, getting more extreme. They don't have any incentive to appeal to voters who will just stay home if they don't like them.

Michael Moore told Bill Maher he thinks that Donald Trump will win the election during Wednesday's special edition of Real Time With Bill Maher for the Republican National Convention.

Maher first took the stage at his Los Angeles studio to give his take on a raucous three days that has seen a rebellion on the convention floor, accusations of plagiarism and booing of prominent speakers.

Maher started things off a bit late ("Mike Pence wouldn’t shut the f— up") to an enthusiastic response from his audience. Speakers at Wednesday’s “Make America First Again”-themed program at the RNC included Ted Cruz, Newt Gingrich and Trump's running mage Mike Pence, who used his speech to accept the GOP’s vice-presidential nomination.

Maher’s guests for the evening were documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid and “Savage Love” columnist Dan Savage. Later in the show, he spoke to Tony Schwartz, the ghostwriter of Trump’s Art of the Deal who recently condemned the Republican nominee.

“After three nights of watching the Republican Conventions, it is great to be here with my gay, black, communist pals,” Maher said of his guests.

Moore drew gasps from the audience when he stated his belief that Trump would win the election. "I'm sorry to have to be the buzzkill here so early on, but I think Trump is going to win."

The audience booed, but Maher responded that "the enemy is complacency" and he was glad Moore said it because he "certainly could win."

Conversation turned to Trump’s reading habits, the third-world quality of government that Trump’s sons bring to the table and whether Obama would be held to the same standards as Trump. Schwartz delivered a harsh criticism of Trump, who he called “a sociopath,” and a step toward the end of civilization.

The special edition retained audience favorites like New Rules, a segment which Maher used Wednesday to put Roger Ailes, the embattled Fox executive, on blast, saying he was responsible for a virulent conservatism in America.

Maher was not the only late-night host to air special episodes during the convention, with Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Samantha Bee and Trevor Noah also airing their own special editions throughout the week.

It's all subjective; people who support Trump are insulted.
I watched most of his speech and found it mostly innocuous, but like the other guy here stated, his remarks today don’t reflect a generalization and he basically admitted he's holding a grudge.

That said, I don’t think it is bravery. It seems Cruz, being ‘established’ is the one who’s angry that Trump won’t fall at the altar of the GOP establishment and play by the established rules.
