When I was in college, which was a long long time ago, I took a course in abnormal psychology. In the midst of the course we had to read a book called "A psychoanalysis of Adolph Hitler" which discussed many aspects of his life and why he might have been so evil. Of course we now feel we must call Hitler evil because to call him sick would be to excuse him. But in the course of going through the book we went through a lot of discussion of Hitler's contemporaries many of whom praised him and his generals for their brilliance, including Americans who lived through the war. Like Lex Luthor, being brilliant does not mean a person is not also evil.
