Inflation should not have been a surprise and if the media was paying attention to the Democrats spending spree they could have predicted it.

From 2019 to 2024 the federal budget increased from $4.4T to $6.8T. That is a ridiculous, and irresponsible, increase of 55% . In the meantime, revenues increase by 40% or $1T. That kind of government spending is going to cause inflation. In 2024, the budget deficit increased to $1.9T! That is absurd.

Trump needs to get this under control if he can. The problem is Medicare and Medicaid costs increase by $430 billion. Interest on the debt increased by almost $600 billion, to just under $1T per year.

This doesn't even include Social Security which will be under water in a few years.

Based on the revenue increases this is clearly not a revenue or taxation issue. It is a spending issue, and if you look at the budgets over the years it has always been a spending issue. This is why calling for more taxes on the rich is just politics. Taxing the rich more will not put a dent in the deficit. We have to stop spending. Having worked in the private sector for over 35 years I know we could cut 20% out of the federal budget without any Americans feeling the difference. Trump needs to get it done.

And stupid Alaska Republicans are the reason she is still in office. She should have lost her last election, and by a normal process she would have. But Republicans put in ranked choice voting in Alaska and that is the only reason she won. Alaska needs to do away with this system and then Murkowski will lose just like Cheney did.

More info on Alaska's ranked choice voting. Last November Alaskans voted on a measure to repeal the ranked choice voting and that measure was defeated by a few hundred votes. The campaign to keep the system brought in over $14 million from outside sources, including a number of out of state media groups. You have to ask why would out of states organizations donate money to support or oppose a voting bill in Alaska? The answer is simple, they know this bill makes it possible to sneak in candidates who would have no chance of winning in a purely Democratic vote. Ironically, groups that claim to support Democracy were the largest contributors to the campaign to keep the ranked choice system.

The proponents of the bill to eliminate ranked choice voting have vowed to continue the fight. They can try to get the same measure on the ballot again, or the state legislature can pass a bill eliminating it. Alaska is a RED states with a Republican legislature. They can undo this voting system very easily, and the governor will sign the bill. All it takes is Alaskan Republicans to get on the phones can let their representatives know they need to get this done.
